Thanks to the generous support of the Department of Corporate and Digital Development (DCDD), 30 female students received complimentary tickets to this inspiring event. 🙏 The day was packed with hands-on activities and opportunities to experience the cutting edge of technology. Highlights included: ➡️ Digital Art Station: Participants explored the creative potential of Procreate on iPads. ➡️ AI and Digital Tools: Attendees witnessed AI-driven art creation in action. ➡️ Esports Skills Development: Aspiring esports enthusiasts honed their skills through engaging, on-site sessions. ➡️ Indie Game Play Area: A showcase of local Northern Territory video games. ➡️ 3D Printing Showcase: Demos featuring cutting-edge 3D printing technology. 🎉 As part of International Volunteer Day celebrations, the CDU Careers Centre recently celebrated the remarkable contributions of student volunteers through the VALue (Volunteer and Learn) Program. Professor Steve Rogers, CDU's Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Research & Innovation, shared his inspiring journey as a volunteer firefighter over the past 14 years. It was witnessing the bravery of volunteer firefighters that motivated him to join their ranks and during his to the student volunteers, he highlighted the profound satisfaction he feels in protecting lives and properties during emergencies. He also raised the urgent need for more community volunteers and reinforced the transformative impact possible on personal growth and community well-being. 🙌 The VALue Program, launched in February 2023, has successfully engaged 226 CDU students, each committing to 50 hours of volunteering throughout their degrees – a total of 11,300 hours of service. Many students have discovered their passions through volunteering, dedicating even more time to causes close to their hearts. Professor Rogers encouraged attendees to embrace their role, not only as volunteers, but as ambassadors for volunteering – sharing with peers, friends and family the benefits of volunteering for organisations, community and self. His heartfelt message resonated with all present, reminding them that there is always room to give back amidst busy lives. 🙏 A special thanks to all our VALue students, to Volunteering NT and all the community organisations involved, reinforcing the collaborative spirit that makes the VALue Program a success. Together, we can continue to foster a culture of service and connection within our community. Megan Saltmarsh Mita Das Caroline Thompson Rafidah American Karen Cavanaugh Liz Hendry Tasfia Awal Miti
