What a milestone! Yesterday we marked the commencement of our project at Redbank Plains with a sod-turning ceremony alongside the Honourable Sam O'Connor MP, Minister for Housing and Public Works and Minister for Youth.   This will deliver 121 new social and affordable homes for Queenslanders aged 55+. And its not just about one project!  With a particular focus on the regions, this project is the start of a scalable pipeline that redefines how we deliver housing solutions.    With the support of the Queensland Government’s Housing Investment Fund and the team at Department of Housing and Public Works, debt financing from ANZ, and collaboration with advisors Hall & Wilcox and Planum Partners, CHL has created a model that can be replicated again and again to deliver social and affordable housing at the scale needed to address the housing crisis. We proved what’s possible when we all work together and are focused on values and long term outcomes for those who need it most.   At CHL, we’re committed to driving innovation and expanding housing supply—because secure, affordable and quality homes matter.      Proud to see our vision take shape!!

  • Today we stood beside ACHL as they turned the sod on the Purrkanaitya Elders Village at Warriparringa, Bedford Park in Adelaide. The project will provide culturally appropriate and vital housing to Elders. With land provided by Kaurna Yerta Aboriginal Corporation (KYAC) and funding from Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation (ILSC), SA Housing Trust, Federal Government and CHL, the build has now officially begun.

  • Fantastic to see Housing Minister Clare O'Neil with our CEO at the GLM2 site in South Yarra this weekend. It’s vital to keep the spotlight on housing issues and continue our efforts to provide practical, scalable solutions for all Australians.

It was an absolute privilege to have Minister Clare O'Neil on our GLM2 site in South Yarra, where she announced the Government’s continued commitment to the housing agenda in the upcoming Budget. Tackling the housing crisis means using every tool we’ve got in supporting Australians right across the housing spectrum: from those most vulnerable requiring housing support, to affordable and disability housing, private rental, and pathways into home ownership. We can’t afford to lose momentum. This is the time to double down on collaboration, partnerships, and practical, scalable solutions that can be delivered, not just discussed. The community housing sector is ready. CHL alone has close to 9,000 dwellings in origination and delivery, including more than 500 modular homes already in production. It’s encouraging to see the Government backing modern methods of construction that can accelerate delivery where it's needed most.

  • Housing is at the core of the cost of living crisis, and urgent action is needed. New research reveals that 73% of voters say housing affordability will influence their vote, while 76% support increased investment in social housing. This week, CHL has been in Canberra, urging leaders to make housing a national priority. We cannot afford to slow down – the momentum must continue. Housing solutions are not the responsibility of any one group; they require a collective effort from federal, state, and local governments, alongside the community housing and private sectors. It’s crucial that we work together, stay aligned, and remain committed to delivering long term, sustainable solutions.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and supported the press conference earlier today at Parliament House, uniting to persuade parliamentarians to build on existing initiatives and lift their ambition on community housing. “Housing is at the eye of the cost-of-living storm. In this election, we know increasing community housing is the best solution to this crippling problem and it has overwhelming public support,” CHIA CEO Wendy Hayhurst said. Over the next three days, CHIA and PowerHousing Australia along with 20+ of our member community housing organisations, are meeting as many MPs and Senators as possible to deliver these findings. We need to quadruple the Housing Australia Future Fund and ensure that one in ten houses are social or affordable. With thanks to Bridge Housing Limited for photos
