A new multimillion-pound investment from leading German space company OHB SE is set to create up to 50 jobs in the West of England. Industry minister Sarah Jones MP heads to Farnborough International Space Show today to announce the win, and discuss our plans for the industry with business leaders from companies including Rolls-Royce, Babcock International Group, ADS Group, Lockheed Martin, Filtronic, GMV and UKspace. Advanced manufacturing is a key growth-driving sector for the UK. Our Industrial Strategy will work to keep it competitive and make the UK the place to do business. Today, the UK and the Philippines held the first ever Joint Economic and Trade Committee (JETCO) aimed at boosting trade between our nations. Our trade relationship is already worth £2.8bn - and with the Philippines' fast-growing economy, there's plenty of opportunity to take it further, particularly in sectors like infrastructure, renewable energy, agriculture and technology. Ministers also committed to progressing a government-to-government Financing Framework Partnership that will unlock £5 billion of financing from UK Export Finance to support the delivery of sustainable public infrastructure and improve access to UK expertise and technology in the Philippines. This news follows on from a recent win for the UK meat industry, with the Philippines' removal of bans on UK poultry and beef worth around £80m over five years for UK exporters ✅ It's a promising time ahead for our nations' trade and investment partnership.
