Happy Queensland Women’s Week! We came together this week to celebrate some of the incredible women in eHealth Queensland and learn all about women’s health and wellbeing. ❤️ This year’s theme, ‘March Forward’ celebrates the economic, political and social achievements of women who came before us and recognises the progress that still needs to be made. The changes we make today will pave the way for women and girls for generations to come, so let’s keep marching forward for a gender equal future. 💪 #QWW2025 #WomenInQld #MarchForward

A huge congratulations to our ICT Disposals Team for their outstanding contribution to the circular economy through eWaste recycling. 🌍 Leveraging strong partnerships with our vendors, the team ensures that old ICT equipment, including desktops, monitors, servers, and telephony gear is repurposed, harvested for parts, or responsibly recycled. Here’s how they make a difference: ✅ reusing and repurposing ICT equipment to extend its life 🛠️ ✅ recycling metals from circuit boards and casings into raw materials 🔗 ✅ processing plastics into ABS pellets for manufacturers 🔁 ✅ turning glass from LCD screens into road base and concrete aggregate 🏗️ ✅ using toner waste in tarmac and plastic-based products ♻️ ✅ recycling batteries for metal-based products and new batteries 🔋 ✅ repurposing cardboard for sustainable packing materials. 📦 In recognition of their efforts, the team won the Sustainability category at the eHealth Queensland Staff Excellence Awards. Well done, team! Thank you for contributing to a greener future. 💚

Congratulations Darling Downs Hospital and Health Service on the opening of Tara Hospital this week. 👏🏥 We’re proud to have been part of this project, working in partnership with the HHS to deliver specific components of the ICT infrastructure and technology that will underpin the hospital’s operations and patient care. The Tara Hospital is the seventh facility so far to go live as part of Queensland Health’s Building Rural and Remote Health Program, which aims to. This program focuses on improve healthcare services in regional areas of Queensland by upgrading or replacing outdated infrastructure facilities. Our team were recently on-site performing final checks on the new technology in preparation for the facility’s official opening. 🎉

Did you know we’re using innovative ‘digital twin’ technology to support ICT infrastructure upgrades across Queensland Health hospitals? 🧑🤝🧑🏥 Our Infrastructure Maintenance Program (IMP) adopted the technology when auditing and potentially upgrading more than 400 hospital communication rooms across Queensland. Communications rooms are the IT heart of our hospitals and often located in the centre of the action, posing challenges for onsite access. The team created ‘digital twins’ of these rooms using technology that converts static photos into interactive, virtual 3D replicas accessible by our staff from any device. Virtual access removes the need for frequent onsite visits, saving travel time and costs and more importantly, minimising disruption to clinicians and staff at those facilities. Best of all, the technology is now used by teams across eHealth Queensland to ensure our health services have reliable and resilient digital technology for clinical care. The IMP team’s efforts were recognised at the eHealth Queensland Staff Excellence Awards, having received the Ambitious Innovation award. Congratulations to all involved in delivering this ‘twinning’ technology! 👏

👋 Meet Robert, a self-confessed data nerd, and Acting Manager of the Radiology Informatics Support Unit! 👨💻 ‘My team supports the systems used by Queensland Health medical imaging sites to manage patient appointments, wait lists and radiology reporting,’ said Robert. ‘These systems provide clinicians with easier access to clinical reports and medical images in a secure environment. ‘We support staff at more than 100 medical imaging and oral health facilities by delivering training, software updates and new software.’ Robert was recently acknowledged at eHealth Queensland’s Staff Excellence Awards as winner of the First Nations First category and finalist in the Rural and Remote category. 🌟 The award celebrated his work supporting Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Services to establish a new medical imaging outreach service for the remote communities of Aurukun, Kowanyama, Pormpuraaw, Lockhart River and Coen. Robert partnered with the health service to enhance medical imaging workflows by addressing the needs and daily challenges of clinicians and patients. Going that extra mile, he worked with clinicians in these communities to develop culturally appropriate communications to support patients in attending their medical imaging appointments. Robert finds great satisfaction in his work, especially when it comes to supporting remote communities. ‘The feedback we get when we make their jobs easier does feel nice,’ he said. And it feels nice having such incredible support for medical imaging, Robert! Thank you for the work you do supporting our health system ♥️

What does it take to deliver an integrated electronic medical record (ieMR) across rural and regional health facilities in Queensland? Look at some of the stats involved in delivering our ieMR Hub and Spoke Project 👇 The project is partnering with Hospital and Health Services to implement ieMR functionality at peripheral sites (spokes) where their main hospital (hub) is already live with the system. Last month, Collinsville, Charters Towers and Moranbah hospitals went live with the ieMR, marking the 19th, 20th and 21st spoke sites for the project. Cairns Hospital also went live with advanced ieMR functionality, a significant achievement for the health service which will enable the region's spoke sites to go live with ieMR in 2025. A big thank you to everyone involved in the latest go-lives 👏 The project was also recognised at last month’s eHealth Queensland Staff Excellence Awards, where the team received the Deputy Director-General Award.

Primary health care staff in some of Queensland's most remote communities now have access to a single electronic medical record solution. Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service recently partnered with our Best Practice Implementation Project to deliver a new electronic medical record solution across 11 of their primary health care clinics. This solution will improve information sharing and support seamless care, even when patients move between communities. Staff at these sites have been thrilled with the new system and its positive impact on health care delivery. The project was also winner of the Rural and Remote category at eHealth Queensland's Staff Excellence Awards, held last month. Watch the short video below to find out more. 👇🙂 #BestPracticeProject #TorresandCape #RuralandRemoteHealthcare

Congratulations to our first cohort of graduates from eHealth Queensland’s First Nations Digital Career Program. 👏 The program supports First Nations peoples pursuing digital careers by providing a pathway to employment through a culturally safe information technology education program. Our trainees spent 18 months working across various roles within eHealth Queensland while completing their Certificate IV in Information Technology. A big thank you to the teams who supported the trainees during their time gaining experience at eHealth Queensland. 🙂 We're now working with hospital and health services to expand the program further, with up to 16 new trainees being onboarded in the next couple of weeks. This will provide further statewide digital career opportunities for First Nations peoples.

Our Far North Digital Partnership Team (DPT) recently visited health centres in the remote communities of Lockhart River, Pormpuraaw and Kowanyama, to deliver ICT updates and prepare them for storm season. ⛈ Visiting remote sites comes with a set of challenges, as charter flights need to be organised, and the needs of each community need to be respectfully considered. Senior Director of Digital Partnerships, Dean, led the team's visit and said it's difficult to convey to people just how remote some Queensland Health sites are. During the trip, Dean met with Josh, Director of Nursing at the Lockhart River Primary Healthcare Clinic, who said the upgrades make a huge difference to clinicians and patient care in remote areas. 🩺 ’Things we take for granted in South-East Queensland like Teams calls, and processing forms suddenly take seconds instead of minutes. Being part of that is an incredible privilege,' said Dean. What a great outcome, Far North DPT! Keep up the amazing work. 🤗
