A BIG THANK YOU for your support from GFWA MACA Cancer 200 Ride for the Perkins team. Last week a GFWA team took part in the Ride for Perkins. The ride raises vital funds and awareness for cancer research here in WA. Over the past 4 years our team with the help of colleges, suppliers, clients, friends and family has raised over $100,000 for Cancer research. With many colleagues past and present touched by Cancer, we are proud to support the Perkins in the fight to find new and better Cancer treatments here in WA. This year, special thanks for donations goes to Hanson Australia, Zenith Low Loaders , Saferight Training, Menard Oceania, InfraBuild, CMW Geosciences & Rock Support Australia. Well done Chris Nobes, tim palmer, Steven Bamford and Emma Bamford.  Amazing effort! 🙌

🌍 GFWA Staff at VINCI Construction Environmental Day 🌱 Our team at GFWA had a fantastic opportunity to participate in VINCI Construction's Environmental Day! This event allowed us to engage in meaningful discussions about CO2 emissions and the initiatives we’re implementing to create a sustainable future. This year’s theme focused on Reducing Our CO2 Emissions, aligning with Vinci Construction’s ambitious goals by 2030 with a 40% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions and a 20% reduction in Scope 3 emissions. Together, we explored innovative strategies and raised awareness about how we can all contribute to this vital mission. A big thank you to everyone involved for their commitment to sustainability and the environment. Let’s continue to work together towards a greener future! #Sustainability #EnvironmentalAwareness #CO2Reduction #VinciConstruction #GFWA

    Work Health and Safety

It’s RUOK? Day - Everyday. September is an important month as it entails RUOK? Day and Suicide Prevention Month. It is vital that we all know where to turn for help, or where we can point others for help when going through a rough patch. Did you know that? Australian construction workers are 6 times more likely to die from suicide than an accident at work and young construction workers are more than 2 times more likely to take their own lives than other young Australian men. That’s why this RUOK? Day and Suicide Prevention Month we are encouraging everyone to look out for the signs that a man in their life - a father, brother, colleague or teammate is struggling, and to reach out and ask “Are you OK?”. Don’t forget to talk to the people in your life who may be suffering from mental health and ask what you can do to help them and listen with an open mind. Always pass on a note or contact for someone such as Acacia Connection (Acacia EAP) and MATES in Construction who have people trained to help problem solve and come up with solutions when helping those in need. This month and this day will always mean something a little more to me as, I unfortunately lost my best mate to suicide back in 2019. I will continue to honour his name and memory by using my voice and profession to help others get the right help in their battle against mental health and to encourage them to SPEAK UP! GFWA

It’s t-minus 34 days and counting until the Bunker Bay 300! A dedicated team is putting in the hard yards for youth mental health, cycling 300km from the Perth Bell Tower to Pullman Bunker Bay Resort Margaret River Region in Australia's longest single-day charity event. We’ll be behind them every pedal of the way. Funds raised will help us deliver Workshops that empower young Western Australians to find their voice and be courageous during life’s most challenging moments and also support the great work of 20Talk and Blue Tree Project. We’re ever appreciative to be an event Charity Partner again, thanks to the BB300 team and ToyBox Australia. You can rally behind the riders by donating to their efforts here 🔗 loom.ly/oU0oAlk #BunkerBay300 #BB300 #YouthMentalHealth #Fundraiser

We would like to recognize our supervisor Nigel Abdilla who after 20 years with GFWA has decided to retire. Nigel started with GFWA on the Rafffles Hotel Applecross Diaphragm walling project back in 2004. Since then he has works on many of Perth most prestigious and challenging projects such as Elizabeth Quay inlet and the Forrestfield Airport Link. We wish Nigel all the best on his retirement, no doubt we will hear about the fishing trips and the size of the one that got away 🤣
