“What excites me most is ensuring rangelands have a seat at the table in federal policy discussions,” shares Paris. Paris Capell, our Natural Capital Advisor for Western Local Land Services, is one of nine participants selected for the National Farmers' Federation Leadership Program where she’s developing a policy proposal to improve carbon farming for landholders in the West. 🌱 Paris is focused on the future of carbon farming, combining carbon-positive outcomes with biodiversity and cultural benefits. We’re proud to have Paris advocating for a sustainable, profitable future for farmers! 🌾 #NaturalCapital #CarbonFarming #SustainableFarming

'Tis the season to get festive! 🎄 We’re gearing up for Christmas by showcasing the work of NSW producers like Rob and Kim Sizer of Hillview Christmas Trees. This video captures a magical moment of a Christmas tree being wrapped and prepared for its journey to a home where it will shine. ✨ Rob and Kim planted their first trees 3.5 years ago on the hilly sections of their Tamworth property—land perfect for pine trees but less suited for cattle. Now with 27,000 trees, they’re celebrating their first harvest! Growing these trees is a labour of love—each one pruned by hand up to six times a year and carefully nurtured to perfection. “Every tree is unique,” says Kim. “The perfect tree brings families together to decorate—and the amazing smell is unbeatable!” Congratulations to Hillview Christmas Trees on their first harvest! 🎄 #HillviewChristmasTrees #SupportLocal #NSWProducers #ChristmasSpirit #Tamworth NSW Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development

Happy #InternationalVolunteerDay! 🌏 Today we are celebrating our team's passion for community and environment. 🌿 Our Team Leader of Emergency Management, Robert Henderson, has had a long and extensive career in the volunteer world. Robert highlights that his journey began in 1996 with the Kooragang Wetland Rehabilitation Project and Kooragang City Farm that ran for about 20 years! These efforts made a lasting impact as the largest Landcare group in NSW, leading in volunteer numbers, hours, and trees planted. While those projects have concluded, a group of passionate volunteers continues to work on vital natural resource management activities across the region. 🌟 Thank you to all volunteers who make a difference in our communities and natural landscapes. Your dedication inspires us all!

“I was invited for the launch of the very first National Agriculture Day at the Australian War Memorial. I can honestly say it was one of the proudest days of my life,” recalls Gary Kadwell. This National Ag Day, we are bringing our farmers to the forefront and celebrating their contribution to our lives. A fourth-generation farmer from Crookwell with a focus on spuds and lambs, Gary has been a custodian of the land from a very young age. “To me, it's been the greatest career I could have ever chosen. I have enjoyed every minute of it.” “And to see Ag Day recognised nationally and putting it at the forefront of the public, I think it’s a great concept. And if we can continue to promote agriculture in a positive light, that's a win-win all round,” added Gary. #AgDayAu #GrowYouGoodThing NSW Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development
