QRC at Minerals Week 🪨 The annual Minerals Council of Australia event puts a national spotlight on the importance of the resources sector to our economic security and the right government policies to attract new investment. These were also the key messages from our CEO Janette Hewson to the Minerals Week Coal Forum on Monday. A fair and balanced coal royalty system and streamlined regulatory approvals are crucial to attracting the significant investment needed to ensure the resources sector can continue to provide more jobs and underpin Queensland's economic prosperity. Our clean energy transition depends on investment in new resources projects in Queensland across all our commodities including coal, gas and critical minerals. #MCA #QRC #Queensland #CoalForum

The resources sector is proud of the contributions that support Queensland. Our 2024 Election Priorities call out the importance of these contributions and ensuring fairer returns to the regions. Regional Queensland is the powerhouse of the state economy due to the resources sector and these communities deserve a larger share of funding. By focusing on sustainable development of essential infrastructure like roads, hospitals and schools, we can improve the quality of life in these regions and ensure long-term economic growth for all Queenslanders. Our message to all sides of politics is to ensure a fairer share for the regions that brings local jobs and economic benefits. We continue to shine a spotlight on skills and talent hot off the back of major funding announcement last week. Our education arm, the QMEA, works alongside schools, industries and partners to identify skills gaps and future talent shortages. We know that nurturing top talent will benefit industries beyond the resources sector. Our peers at the Australian Mining and Automotive Skills Alliance (AUSMASA) have delivered the 2024 Workforce Plan that recognises another 72,000 workers are needed in Australia over the next decade, with 41,000 in mining, oil and gas. They're hosting events in September to talk about overcoming the top challenges (https://lnkd.in/g7uzWFhw).
