On Friday, 16 August, Young Engineers Australia had the wonderful opportunity to organise a site visit to the Sydney Metro Martin Place integrated station precinct a few days before its official public opening on the following Monday. It was a well-organised and coordinated event where we learnt about the development of the project, key features of the site and the impact of the precinct on the community of Sydney. We would like to extend our gratitude to Macquarie Group for making this possible, Kate ffrench Blake and Damien Wilson for facilitating and Benjamin Hanley for organising the tour. Thank you to those who attended our sold-out site visit! We hope you had a fantastic time, and we look forward to seeing you at our future events. "Diversity is more than just ticking a box. It’s about diversifying your collective organisational thought processes to achieve success with your clients. Don’t screen out migrants and international graduates on temporary visas with a yes/no dropdown. You might be surprised at the wealth of life experience they bring, and they’ll never forget you for it." - Asad Lilani, Design Coordinator at Aurecon What an insightful and profound evening we had last Wednesday at our event, "The Journey of Successful Migrant Engineers". We were in the wonderful company of Elizabeth WANG LLM, Asad Lilani, Maryam Hosseini and Heimy Molina who shared their experiences, resilient journeys and challenges as they made significant strides in their careers in Australia. We want to thank our speakers for showcasing their strength, determination and stories, and Migrant Engineers (Sydney) for their efforts in cofacilitating such a special event with us. We hope our attendees were inspired and have found a network of people to support them throughout their journeys. We hope you enjoyed your experience as much as we enjoyed hosting, and we hope to see you at our next event!
