Our last sessions of the day showed us how AI is driving advancements in weather and climate modelling, and how it can extend the impact of #DestinE across various sectors, ending with key conclusions and the future of the DestinE initiative by representatives from EU Digital & Tech, and the three entrusted entities: EUMETSAT, the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts and the European Space Agency - ESA. ...and that wraps up the DestinE User eXchange! 🌍🌐 Thank you to all our speakers and participants for an insightful two days. Join us next time for more updates, and continue sharing your thoughts and feedback with us. 👋 You can now check out and download all pictures from the event here: https://lnkd.in/eGWDZUyw

European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites. Monitoring weather and climate since 1986.
Info
EUMETSAT is the European operational satellite agency for monitoring weather, climate and the environment from space. We operate a system of meteorological satellites that observe the atmosphere and ocean and land surfaces – 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This data is supplied to the National Meteorological Services of the organisation's member and cooperating states in Europe, as well as other users worldwide. The service provided by EUMETSAT helps to enhance and safeguard the daily lives of European citizens. They aid meteorologists in identifying and monitoring the development of potentially dangerous weather situations and in issuing timely forecasts and warnings to emergency services and local authorities, helping to mitigate the effects of severe weather and protecting human life and property. This information is also critical to the safety of air travel, shipping and road traffic, and to the daily business of farming, construction and many other industries. Account monitored Mon-Fri 09:00-18:00 CET. For general enquiries, please contact: press@eumetsat.int For user support, please contact: ops@eumetsat.int

📈 Record-breaking greenhouse gas levels surged again in 2023! Here are the top lines: 🌍 CO₂ concentrations have increased 11.4% in just 20 years 📊 Long lifetime of CO₂ in the atmosphere locks in future temperature increase 🔥 El Niño and vegetation fires fuel surge in later part of 2023 🌲 Effectiveness of carbon sinks, like forests, cannot be taken for granted 🔎 Improved understanding of carbon-climate feedbacks is needed 📢 Stay informed for effective #ClimateAction at #COP29—explore the World Meteorological Organization's full Greenhouse Gas Bulletin for more: https://lnkd.in/ea9uyuHu

Among the internships on offer for 2025, EUMETSAT is offering the fascinating opportunity to look at the international exchange of satellite and meteorological data using WMO's WIS 2.0 system. This will give the intern a chance to learn about global data exchange and also to experience working in an international organisation and collaborating with the broader community. https://lnkd.in/eAV_pQZC
