What does your role at NexWafe entail? A: I was drawn to NexWafe by the excitement of contributing to the development of a disruptive technology in the PV energy sector — technology that promises to be cheaper, more efficient and more sustainable than the current state of the art. NexWafe offers the only viable alternative for enabling competitive local production outside of China, aligning perfectly with my vision of creating a more sustainable environment for future generations. In my current role as Senior Director of Future Technology at NexWafe, I am responsible for shaping the strategic vision and direction of our organization’s technological innovation initiatives. This involves identifying relevant technologies and trends that can drive business transformation, enhance operational efficiency and create new market opportunities. I lead cross-functional teams in researching, developing and implementing advanced technological solutions that align with the company’s mid- and long-term goals. Q: What were the major challenges for you during your initial days at NexWafe? How did you overcome them? What is your biggest challenge today? A: Shortly after joining NexWafe, I collaborated closely with our CTO to conceptualize a new atmospheric pressure chemical vapor deposition (APCVD) reactor design aimed at achieving commercial production and quality targets. We manufactured, tested and demonstrated proof-of-concept elements of the new design on the existing reactor before decommissioning the old system and building a new one based on our concept. Today, my biggest challenge is ensuring the progress of mid- to long-term strategic projects with limited resources. This requires balancing the allocation of internal resources between these strategic initiatives and the pressing short-term goals of the company. CEO Dr. Davor Sutija's NexWafe presentation at last week's PV CellTech Europe highlighted recent progress on low earth orbit (LEO) satellite applications for ultra-thin EpiNex wafers. ➡️ On the conference's closing day, co-founder and SVP Dr. Frank Siebke showed the conference a NexWafe LEO mini-module made with a 70um p-type heterojunction (HJT) cell with a 100um glass laminate with a power-to-weight performance of >230W/Kg. #Solar #SolarPV #LEOSatellites #PVCellTech

Earlier this week, during the PV CellTech conference in Frankfurt, NexWafe CEO Davor Sutija was reconfirmed as a board member for the European Solar Manufacturing Council (ESMC). The ESMC serves an important role as an industry association dedicated to promoting the interests of the European PV manufacturing sector. The group's mission is to foster growth and innovation in the industry, support policy development and advocacy, and provide a platform for networking and collaboration among European industry leaders. At PV CellTech Europe this week, NexWafe CEO Davor Sutija unveiled a NexWafe 70-micron cell minimodule designed for space applications. Davor also took part in a panel discussion led by Gerry Knoch of exateq GmbH, titled "New PV equipment & processes driving GW-scale production line throughputs." The session explored "the leading PV equipment suppliers to the sector today and next-generation solutions for GW-scale production lines with efficiencies in the high twenties." Executives from Laplace Renewable Energy Technology Co.,Ltd, Nines PV, NorSun, WAVELABS Solar Metrology Systems GmbH and Singulus Technologies AG contributed to the discussion. NexWafe was delighted to support the Solar Energy Manufacturers for America (SEMA) Coalition "fly-in" to meet with seven key Senate offices and also with Rep. Kevin Hern and the team pictured here with Rep. Buddy Carter. The fly-in included the leading US companies committed to developing the US solar supply chain from polysilicon (Wacker Chemical Corporation USA, Hemlock Semiconductor), solar wafers (Corning Incorporated, Qcells North America, NorSun), through to solar cells, modules and thin film. (First Solar, Q-Cells, TALON PV, Silfab Solar Inc., Suniva) and next-generation wafer and cell technologies (NexWafe, Caelux, CubicPV Inc.). Jonathan Pickering (VP NexWafe, USA) highlighted how NexWafe's breakthrough wafer manufacturing technology could enable sustained US PV leadership on performance and cost.
