Celebrating the groundbreaking of Mjøsfronten Mjøsfronten, a 50,000 square meter lakeside area in Hamar, Norway, aims to create a vibrant meeting place and connect the city of Hamar closer to Lake Mjøsa, Norway’s largest lake. With carefully selected materials and a landscape design that enhances biodiversity, Mjøsfronten will feature: ☕️ Skibladnertorget – a dynamic hub for workshops, cafes, and water sports 🧖♀️Mjøsbadet – a year-round beach and sauna experience 🌅Solplassen – a welcoming urban space for celebrations and everyday encounters Building upon the vibrant community participation and initiatives that have already taken place, the next development phase is now commencing with Solplassen and is targeted for completion in 2026. Mayor Vigdis Stensby marked the occasion with a symbolic ribbon-cutting and groundbreaking. Solplassen itself is designed with a circular structure, incorporating tiered steps and seating to provide panoramic views. The design seamlessly transitions into a two-tiered promenade that will encircle the inner harbor. Rullestenen (the Rolling Stone) in the creative Musicon area of Roskilde is a housing project that imagines residential development in new ways by focusing on sustainability and prioritising community. The building is built with prefabricated timber modules, with a strong focus on minimizing the carbon impact through the choice of the timber structural system and the individual building materials with long lifetimes documented through Environmetal Product Declarations. The i8 office building in Munich’s Werksviertel, is taking its final shape, with key architectural elements now complete. The newly finished loggias add depth and structure to the façade, creating sheltered outdoor spaces that enhance both aesthetics and functionality. The diagonal supports, inspired by the area’s industrial heritage, reinforce the building’s dynamic character and distinctive presence. Above, the pergola is now in place, providing a striking finishing touch to the building’s silhouette. Beyond its visual appeal, it also offers shading and structural rhythm, further integrating form and function. Meanwhile, interior work is progressing rapidly, bringing the vision of a flexible and modern workspace closer to reality. With its hybrid timber construction and strong focus on sustainable materials, i8 is set to become a defining landmark within the iCampus, seamlessly blending innovative design with environmental responsibility. Navigating spaces- A New Study Explores Human Navigation How do we really decide which way to go and does the visibility of a destination matter more than the distance we have to go? Cecilie Marie Busk and Maibritt Dammann teamed up with Aalborg University and Assistant Professor Zakaria Djebbara, to delve into these fascinating questions. Research that is particularly relevant for us at C.F. Møller Architects, as it provides invaluable insights into how people interact with spaces. Understanding the role of cognitive maps and other factors allows us to design environments that enhance intuitive navigation and user experience. Using virtual reality, participants navigated a maze, where some destinations were more visible but further away. Curious to learn more? Construction of the new Enköping town hall has reached a major milestone with its recent topping-out. The modern, sustainable, and efficient office building replaces the old town hall, spanning 5,300 square meters to accommodate 450 employees while serving as a vital meeting place for staff and citizens. Built primarily from wood and complemented by climate-improved concrete, the building meets high sustainability standards, including BREEAM Outstanding certification and energy class A compliance. Solar panels and a ground source heat pump further enhance its energy efficiency. Centrally located by the city’s main park and set for completion in 2026, the inviting design features public spaces on the ground floor, activity-based workplaces above, and a rooftop terrace with a café and meeting areas. Competition Win - Hanover Medical School Hospital 🏥 The joint entry by C.F. Møller Architects and HENN has won the competition for the new building of the Hanover Medical School Hospital, one of Germany's leading medical research universities. The collaborative design prioritizes a human-centered and climate-friendly approach, integrating advanced healthcare with the principles of Healing Architecture. “Together with our ARGE partner C.F. Møller Architects, we are creating an environment that puts people first – whether they are patients, medical staff, or visiting loved ones,” says Marcus Fissan, Managing Director for Science and Healthcare at HENN. The campus replaces traditional structures with interconnected buildings around green spaces, creating a human-scaled, light-filled environment that fosters well-being. Sustainable building principles are at the heart of the design, incorporating circular principles, energy efficiency, and biodiversity through timber-hybrid construction, low-carbon materials, and ecological landscaping. A unifying loop connects all buildings, ensuring intuitive wayfinding and seamless indoor-outdoor integration.
