Like many of our industry peers, we're returning to our desks after a busy and energizing time in New York for Climate Week. Reflecting on all the enriching sessions – and looking ahead to the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) coming into force – we're thinking about how these two concepts come together. How will EUDR compliance enable companies to achieve and claim lower greenhouse gas emissions profiles for their palm oil and palm kernel oil volumes, for example? If you or your organization are working on this, we are interested to discuss. Let us know your thoughts, or do reach out to get in touch with the ASD team. #climateweeknyc #climateweek2024 #eudr #deforestation #climateaction

Collaboration initiative by derivatives users to transform their supply chains
À propos
Action for Sustainable Derivatives (ASD) is a collaborative initiative co-managed and co-facilitated by BSR and Transitions, two organizations with extensive experience and expertise in supply chain sustainability and business collaborations. The industry-led platform brings together companies in the cosmetics, home and personal care, and oleochemicals industries to collectively tackle supply chain issues around palm oil and palm kernel oil derivatives, and expanding into other derivative commodities.

We’re back from our Summer break and as Fall kicks in, we have some exciting news…. We are delighted to announce that IFF is the latest organisation to join us on our journey together as we aim to transform derivatives supply chains. IFF (International Flavors & Fragrances Inc.) is a US corporation that creates products across a range of categories – from taste, texture and scent to nutrition, enzymes and probiotics. The business is a leader in food, beverage, scent, home and personal care, and health, applying science and creativity for a better world. And it's great to have them on board. ASD now has more than 30 members from across the healthcare, cosmetics, home and personal care, and oleochemicals industries. You can find out more about how we aim to create impact in collaboration on our website. Just visit sustainablederivatives.org.

"ASD is cultivating a great vision and great ideas. We just need to be brave. Impossible is nothing." Those were the inspirational thoughts of one of our members as we all gathered in Brussels recently to mark the fifth year of the initiative. The in-person meeting in the Belgian capital was a chance for ASD members to meet, celebrate, collaborate, and plan for what the next five years will look like as we collectively raise our ambition to transform the derivatives supply chain and shape the future of the oleomaterials market. You can read all about what happened in our latest blog, https://lnkd.in/eRVzbxix

A big thank you to our supporting ASD members – Avon, Clariant through its Foundation, Groupe Clarins, The Clorox Company, Croda, Croda Foundation, The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. through its Charitable Foundation, GATTEFOSSÉ, Haleon, SEPPIC, Stéarinerie Dubois and Zschimmer & Schwarz. Before we get together later this week in Brussels for our mid-year in-person meeting, ASD is delighted to be taking part in the latest Sustainable Palm Oil Dialogue meeting. Organised by Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), IDH, FEDIOL and APAG - Oleochemicals Europe, it will be an important session to focus on a subject much discussed by ASD and our members: emissions reduction in palm supply chains. We’re excited to be a part of the discussion and explore how the sector might work towards more robust greenhouse gas footprinting and emission reduction calculations associated with certified sustainable palm oil types – from mass balance to segregated supply and identity preserved. The ASD team – including Ricki Berkenfeld, Alexandra Kolev and Charlene Collison from BSR, and Lenaïg Benjamin, Sarah Ceska and Alex Guillet from TRANSITIONS – will be on the ground so look out for them and come say ‘hello’. #SPOD #RSPO #SPODEurope #sustainablepalmoil #certifiedpalmoil

ASD secretariat and members are proud to also be members of Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), the global sustainability partnership that unites stakeholders from across the palm oil supply chain. ASD, as a representative of the derivatives voice, recognizes the importance of participating in the RSPO to engage with other stakeholder types and participate in the broader, sector-wide work towards sustainable palm oil. #RSPO #RSPONext20 #RSPOMember #SustainablePalmOil
