Congratulations to RTM Djulpan’s crew who recently received a Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) Safety at Sea award for their heroic efforts in saving six lives. This rescue mission took place in July 2023, demonstrating the courage and commitment to maritime safety that our Anglo-Eastern crew is known for. Well done Captain Bebel and team! We also thank our valued client, Rio Tinto, for their ongoing trust and support in our pursuit of excellence. #AngloEastern #ShapingABetterMaritimeFuture

GM Marine Operations and Performance at Rio Tinto

Proud of the MV RTM Djulpan crew, our Rio Tinto-owned vessel, for winning the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) Safety at Sea award for “Outstanding Contribution to Search and Rescue Efforts in 2023”. The bravery of Captain Bebel Anglo-Eastern and his crew exemplifies the selflessness, professionalism, and dedication in ensuring the safety and well-being of others in distress at sea. The successful rescue operation is a testament to the professionalism and valour of our crew in the face of adversity, demonstrating Rio Tinto core values of Care, Courage, and Curiosity. I also want to take this opportunity to thank MPA for their unwavering support and commitment to promoting safety at sea, including organising the annual Safety@Sea week to bring the industry together to exchange and share learnings on maritime safety. +++ The Story – On 1 July 2023, Captain Volodymyr Bebel and his crew aboard the RTM Djulpan were en route to China from Australia when they spotted 6 people drifting on a makeshift raft off the coast of Indonesia. The Master informed the Indonesia Rescue Coordination Center, who instructed them to remain in the vicinity until a rescue boat could arrive. As day turned into night and the raft began to slam into the hull of the vessel, the Master, concerned for the individuals’ safety, decided to proceed with a rescue. The crew successfully brought all 6 aboard and gave them food, water, warm supplies and medical care. It turns out that the rescued persons had constructed the raft in a bid for survival when their fishing boat sank. When the RTM Djulpan found them, they had been drifting for 12 days. Profoundly thankful for the decisive actions of Captain Bebel and his crew. These individuals may well not have survived had the RTM Djulpan not spotted and rescued them. Your swift response and unwavering commitment to saving lives is commendable, and a testament to the importance of well-prepared and skilled teams in safeguarding lives at sea. +++ Photo credits: Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore #SafetyAtSea #SafetyAtSeaWeek #FindingBetterWays

The past quarter has not been without its fair share of challenges, but as they say, challenges breed opportunities. Anglo-Eastern is embracing these prospects to propel ourselves and our industry forward, while rising to confront any potential issues head-on. Alongside our clients and key partners, we are also making headway toward greener solutions. Most notably, taking on management responsibilities for Windcat’s first Elevation Series CSOVs which will be powered by hydrogen, and M.V. Fortescue Green Pioneer, the world's first dual-fuelled ammonia vessel to have successfully completed trials in Singapore. Anglo-Eastern was also involved in the first ship-to-ship transfer of ammonia, alongside Purus and Trafigura. While this quarter has seen much progress, it has also been a time of reflection for us at Anglo-Eastern. Recent events have underscored the critical importance of safety in our operations. We are more committed than ever to reinforcing a strong safety culture across our fleet, with continued investments in mental health support, advanced training, and onboard safety protocols. In this edition of LeaderShip, we also share insights into some of the key people who make up Anglo-Eastern, including our first “On the radar” piece featuring Tejinder Bhamra, Anglo-Eastern Maritime Academy’s new principal. Additionally, we continue to provide direction at key summits and conferences, while further developing effective partnerships. Read the full issue: https://lnkd.in/gEHRJecS

On August 16 1974, 50 years ago to this day, Anglo-Eastern Ship Management Services was incorporated in Hong Kong. Since then, much has changed but much has also remained the same, with the ethos to "do the right things the right way" permeating through our organisation, and a commitment to excellence and safety taking precedence over outright financial gain. We kicked off our celebrations with clients and partners in Hong Kong back in April and are very much looking forward to a spirited event in Singapore tonight. To everyone who has been part of the company, as an employee, client, partner or supporter, we thank you for your role in Anglo-Eastern's journey. For now, let us look back on the shared laughter, memories and camaraderie of our HK event. Here's to the last 50 years and beyond! #AngloEastern #ShapingABetterMaritimeFuture

At Anglo-Eastern, we are committed to supporting the holistic well-being of our people. Over the past year, we conducted over 60 well-being initiatives, addressing both mental and physical health, for our seafarers both onboard and ashore. We also connected with their families, recognising the importance of supporting the entire crew ecosystem. As part of CMB.TECH, Windcat, Europe’s leading offshore personnel transfer company, has ordered six Elevation Series CSOVs in partnership with Damen Shipyards. Windcat will now partner with Anglo-Eastern for the technical and crewing management of these vessels. The signing of the ship management agreement for the first vessel was completed on July 19 in Hong Kong between Willem van der Wel, managing director at Windcat and Bjørn Højgaard, CEO at Anglo-Eastern, with this partnership representing a significant development in Anglo-Eastern’s strategy to expand its technical consulting services and fleet management capabilities in the offshore renewable energy sector. By combining our deep industry knowledge and shared vision for a greener future, we are confident this investment in clean energy technology will pave the way for more environmentally responsible maritime solutions. Thank you to Windcat for placing their trust in us in being part of this innovative project to develop the next generation of hydrogen-powered offshore vessels. Most recently, Anglo-Eastern has reached the milestone of safely bunkering 100,000 m³ of liquefied natural gas (LNG) across our fleet of LNG dual fuel vessels. LNG dual-fuel vessels utilise a cleaner-burning alternative to traditional marine fuels, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and helping the maritime industry transition towards a more sustainable future. In pursuit to provide properly trained crew on board and shore managers, Anglo-Eastern initiated inhouse LNG dual-fuel courses in 2021 with immersive training solutions involving simulators and VR training. This achievement was made possible through 35 successful LNG bunkering operations. Anglo-Eastern works closely with key partners in the maritime industry, including Anglo American, BOCOM Leasing, and MOL Chemical Tankers. We are grateful to our dedicated team and partners for their commitment to ensuring the highest standards of safety and efficiency in the use of this environmentally-friendly marine fuel technology. #AngloEastern #ShapingABetterMaritimeFuture
