In this article, Christin Wenge, a maritime pilot in the Port of Hamburg, shares her inspiring story about her career at sea and her journey in the maritime industry to becoming a pilot. She bravely discusses her experiences as a woman in this line of work, encompassing the good and bad. Safehaven Marine Delivers their 61st Pilot Boat, "Punta Do Cruceiro," to the Port of Ferrol. Safehaven Marine proudly handed over Punta Do Cruceiro, a new Interceptor 48 pilot boat, to the Port of Ferrol in Northern Spain today. This marks the company’s 61st pilot boat, a testament to Safehaven’s continued excellence in pilot vessel construction. Powered by twin Volvo D13 engines, Punta Do Cruceiro delivers an impressive yet economical operational speed of 24.5 knots, ensuring reliable and efficient performance. A notable feature of this vessel is its unique cabin arrangement, which includes the usual shock mitigation seating for five crew members, as well as a comfortable dinette seating area—an innovative addition that enhances crew comfort and is expected to gain popularity in future pilot 48's. Safehaven’s pilot boats have gained significant popularity in Northern Spain and Portugal, where the region’s exposure to the Atlantic Ocean makes the exceptional seakeeping abilities of the design highly valued. With their proven reliability and superior performance in challenging waters, Safehaven Marine’s vessels continue to set the standard for pilot boats in the region.
