As tomorrow's highly anticipated Dragons at The Docks 2024 is almost upon us, I-RES are proud to be a cornerstone member since the event's inception in 2017. This flagship fundraising initiative has been instrumental in raising vital funds for great charitable organisations across Ireland, amassing over €1.7 million in the past seven years. Last year alone, more than €250,000 was raised for the Dublin Simon Community from the event, to help provide homes for families and enabling more people to exit homelessness. This year we look forward to contributing towards this ongoing effort and making an even greater impact. #DragonsAtTheDocks #DATD2024 #DublinDocklands #CharityEvent

We are proud to share a recent post from Dublin Civic Trust, highlighting the exceptional architectural design of our School Yard property in Dublin 1. I-RES completed development of 61 new apartments at The School Yard, Ireland’s first LEED Gold Standard property, in 2022. We remain committed to providing residents with high-quality properties with strong sustainability credentials, in attractive locations. “Tucked behind the great London plane trees of Dublin’s North Circular Road is arguably the best-finished apartment building erected in Dublin city centre in the past decade. The School Yard development of 61 apartments, built by I-RES as an extension of its existing Baker’s Yard apartment scheme behind, is an excellent model of high-density urban housing slotted into an historic neighbourhood. Designed by Crawford Architecture, Sligo, the building is a rare, beautiful response to the mature location with confident use of yellow stock brick dressed with bronzed aluminium – and critically, nothing else. This strict palette is the core of its architectural success, ditching the usual retail ‘plinth’ of stone and clumsy proprietary façade panels associated with new builds. The brindle brick gives a quieter, durable expression that evokes the 1830s yellow brick houses along this stretch of the North Circular Road. The bands of ground floor ‘rustication’ are a brilliant device for animating the street while neatly accommodating shops and entrances. At roof level, the building is properly topped with a bronze crown that is part of the language of the building, not apart from it in the manner of Dublin’s usually ham fisted ‘top-up’ storeys. Contrary to media and political hype about the planning system, this development was turned around in planning in eight months flat, precisely because it was well designed. Dublin City Council planners were reasonable, and there was no need for SHD, ABP appeal or judicial review. The system worked. This is the comfortable scale and contextual architecture that should be prescribed in Dublin city, infilling brownfield sites and providing quality homes. The School Yard demonstrates what can be done and what must be sought."

We are delighted to have participated in this year's Staff Relay Series, an amazing event which took place on Thursday the 24th of May in Dublin's Phoenix Park. A very big well done to our 3 teams which represented I-RES on the day, with each of our competitors completing a 5km relay of the 25km total course, for an unforgettable and rewarding experience. The event itself is a great day out for all involved and we look forward to competing again in next year’s race already. #StaffRelaySeries #TeamBuilding #PhoenixPark

I-RES appoints Eddie Byrne as CEO Designate. The Board of I-RES is pleased to announce the appointment of Eddie Byrne as CEO Designate, with effect from 8 April 2024. Mr Byrne will succeed Margaret Sweeney as CEO and Executive Director of the Board with effect from 1 May 2024. As previously announced, Margaret Sweeney notified the Board of her intention to retire from I-RES in April 2024, having served as CEO for the past six and a half years. Margaret will step down on 30 April 2024 following an agreed transition period. Eddie has over 20 years’ experience at executive level in the real estate sector. Most recently, he was Joint Managing Partner at Quintain Developments Ireland, one of Ireland’s largest residential real estate developers, where he co-established the Irish operation that achieved over 5,000 planning permissions, built and sold c. 1,500 rental and private homes, and raised a significant amount of growth capital. He was previously Managing Director at Hudson Advisors Ireland, where he oversaw several billion euro of acquisitions and disposals of real estate assets in Ireland. He was also Chief Portfolio Officer at Netherlands based Propertize where he had responsibility for a large property portfolio across the Benelux countries and before that, worked in real estate, banking, and capital markets in North America. I-RES Chair Hugh Scott-Barrett, Chair, said: “I am pleased to announce that Eddie will join I-RES as our next CEO. Eddie has an extensive track record across Irish and international real estate, including most recently in the Irish residential sector, and has significant experience in building teams, interacting with local authorities, raising capital, executing transactions, and developing strategic initiatives. Eddie’s experience will be a significant and complementary addition as we continue our previously announced Strategic Review which is considering all strategic options available to maximise value for Shareholders. On behalf of the Board, I would like to sincerely thank Margaret for her immense contribution as CEO of I-RES for the last six and a half years. Under Margaret’s leadership, I-RES delivered a significant transformation in scale, growing its portfolio by over 60% to c. 4,000 units, put in place new long-term funding structures, and successfully internalised the management of the business”.    Eddie Byrne said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as the next CEO of I-RES, a company which is the leading provider of high quality private residential rental accommodation in Ireland. The real estate sector is going through a period of unprecedented change, making this a very exciting time to be joining the business. I look forward to working with Hugh and the Board in exploring value creation opportunities for Shareholders as part of the Strategic Review, and I am excited to work with the I-RES team, its partners, and all stakeholders to develop and realise those opportunities”.
