An insightful workshop on ‘Electricity Grids and Secure Energy Transitions’ was held today at NRLDC, GRID-INDIA, in collaboration with International Energy Agency (IEA). The event featured distinguished guests including Sh. Arun Goyal, Member, CERC, Dr. D. Saibaba, Joint Secretary (Transmission), Ministry of Power, GoI, and Dr. Pablo Hevia-Koch, Head of IEA's RISE unit. The workshop saw participation from Ministry of Power, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Central Electricity Authority, International Energy Agency (IEA), CTUIL, NTPC Limited, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, CPRI, Hitachi Energy Indian Electrical & Electronics Manufacturers' Association (IEEMA), Siemens, and various industry representatives. The workshop covered topics such as grid expansion challenges, renewable energy integration, supply chain dynamics, system reliability, resilience, and the need for skilled manpower. The discussions aimed at ensuring an affordable, robust, and reliable power supply for consumers.

Shri Rajiv Kumar Porwal, Director (System Operation), GRID-INDIA spoke during the session on ‘Transforming the Indian Power Market’ at the 5th Annual India Power Conference, held in New Delhi on June 20-21, 2024. Shri Porwal elucidated the current functioning of the Indian power market, detailing recent initiatives and highlighting emerging requirements within the sector. The India Power Conference 2024 is the country's largest gathering for power and renewable energy, offering a platform for solution providers across all forms of power generation, from conventional to renewable energy, including associated energy storage and transition. #Energy #Power

To strengthen GRID-INDIA’s supply chain management, a workshop on "Developing a Cohesive Vendor Ecosystem" was held at Northern Regional Power Committee Conference Hall on May 16, 2024. Representatives from 25 OEMs, system integrators, and industry partners, including GE, HP, CISCO, Fortinet, SonicWall, Checkpoint, Nutanix, Microsoft, Oracle, L&T, OSI, and Grant Thornton, engaged in vibrant discussions with GRID-INDIA Officers. A Stakeholder Consultation cum Workshop on "Modelling of Solar/ Wind Power Plants and Forecasting of VRE Generation" is being organised by GRID-INDIA under the aegis of CIGRE-India Study Committee C2 on 21 & 22 May 2024 at SCOPE Convention Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. Shri Rajiv Kumar Porwal, Director (System Operation), GRID-INDIA along with Shri A. Balan, Member (Planning), CEA, Shri S.C. Saxena, ED (NLDC) and Prof. Zakir Rather from IIT Bombay graced the inaugural session. The workshop aims to assist RE developers, equipment manufacturers and consultants in understanding the technical standards, type certificates, benchmarking reports, simulation models, compliance verifications, and trial operation for connectivity and first time charging approval. In an effort to empower stakeholders, WRLDC, GRID-INDIA organized a session focused on Web-Based Energy Scheduling (WBES) software on 29th-30th April 2024. The session commenced with an inaugural address by Sh. V. Balaji, Executive Director WRLDC. The primary objective was to offer practical experience and a thorough comprehension of the newly introduced modules within WBES to utilities spanning the Western Region. A delegation from ERLDC, led by Shri R. Sutradhar, Executive Director, ERLDC visited SLDC Patna to discuss the Automatic Generation Control integration of NTPC's Barauni (2X250 MW) plant, where Bihar has been allocated the full share. Director BSPTCL, Shri A K Singh and Chief Engineer of Bihar SLDC, Shri A K Chaudhary along with his team, joined the discussion. Executives from NTPC-Barauni were also actively engaged in the deliberations. This was followed by discussion related to GNA and scheduling issues. The Regional Power System Operator Training and Certification Program was inaugurated today at the National Power Training Institute, Faridabad. The training, organized by USAID's South Asia Regional Energy Partnership (SAREP) program and NPTI, will be held at the NPTI campus from April 22-27. This program is specifically designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of mid-level system operators in South Asia on power system operations, market dynamics, and regional integration. The curriculum is tailored to meet the specific needs of the energy sector, covering topics such as power structures, grid operations, cross-border connectivity, renewable energy integration, and cutting-edge storage technologies. The program aims to bridge the gap between theory and practical application, equipping system operators with the necessary knowledge and skills to adapt to and shape the changing energy landscape.
