🎤 Investment Announcement: We are excited to announce that Peak Sustainability Ventures has co-led an investment in Norway-based Hydrogen Mem-Tech, along with London-based AP Ventures! With Peak now holding a 10.5% stake in the company, this partnership represents a significant boost for Hydrogen Mem-Tech's mission to advance hydrogen separation technology globally. Leading climate investors including Aramco Ventures, Yara Growth Ventures and SINTEF also participated in the round. HMT's membrane-based technology enables efficient hydrogen production from natural gas and biogas, and can be very useful for applications for petroleum companies and in steel annealing. For Peak, it's important that we build a strong relationship with management before becoming involved in a company. Samir Shah spent significant time with Thomas Reinertsen and the team at HMT, to understand HMT's technology, determine Peak's value-add, and strategize together to have a global positive impact on decarbonization efforts. Peak’s Managing Partner, Samir Shah, will join HMT's board, bringing his experience in scaling global climate technologies, particularly in the rapidly growing hydrogen economy in India. "Peak evaluated several other hydrogen companies before deciding to invest in us, which is a great testament to the potential they see in our technology. It’s exciting to see them choose a relatively small company in Trondheim, Norway as their next big investment. Aadil (Adiel) Chitalwala commented, "As important as it is for a founder to raise capital, it is equally important to know what type of capital is required at a specific stage and for what type of project. For instance, carbon credit projects typically require financing upfront in order to fund their development to a stage when they can sell credits in the market. On the other hand, new, cutting edge technologies in energy often require significant amounts of government funding for R&D prior to raising equity funding."
