🎓 The PPIA Praxis Residency Programme officially kicked off its Bootcamp for our 2024-2026 cohort at Jamia Hamdard Scholar's House on July 15, 2024. The programme launch featured inspiring speeches by Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Jamia Hamdard Prof. (Dr.) Afshar Alam and Transform Rural India Co-lead Anish Kumar. Over the next 15 days, our Praxis learners engaged in an intensive academic workshop that combined knowledge from multiple fields to equip them with academic insights, practical skills, and practice-oriented learning. This prepared them to navigate the complexities of public systems ahead of their district administration placements. Our esteemed faculty—including Nirmalya Choudhury, Vikram Srinivas, Avanish Kumar, Santosh Kumar and others—from #TISSMumbai, #HarvardKennedySchool, #MDIGurgaon, #AmbedkarUniversityNewDelhi, led sessions on key subjects such as Public Policy Design & Analysis, Multidimensional Poverty, Economics, Anthropology, Sociology, Public Policy Delivery Architecture, Diversity & Inclusion, and more. Leadership in Action: Reflections from the Adaptive Leadership Workshop 🌱 I had the privilege of attending the Adaptive Leadership Workshop as part of the PPIA Praxis Residency Programme, held from 15-19 September 2024 at Integrated Social Initiatives (ISI), New Delhi. The workshop was led by our incredible core faculty, Stuti Shukla, Ed.D and Preeti Sahai, both Harvard Kennedy School Alumni, who brought invaluable perspectives on leadership and systems thinking. This workshop, based on the framework developed by Dr. Ronald A. Heifetz at Harvard Kennedy School, was a pivotal learning experience. It gave us the chance to step back, take the "balcony view" after our one-month fieldwork, and diagnose complex systems more effectively. We explored how to balance formal and informal authority, design adaptive leadership experiments, and approach public policy implementation with a human-centric lens. The systems-thinking approach helped me understand how to navigate external challenges while reflecting on my values and biases—a critical aspect of leadership in public policy. I'm excited to apply these insights in my current work with the Palamu district administration and beyond. Thank you to our facilitators, the PPIA Praxis Residency Programme, and Transform Rural India (TRI) for such an enriching experience! #adaptiveleadership #publicpolicyinaction #transformruralindia #systemsthinking #leadershipjourney #publicpolicy #praxisresidency #policyimplementation #harvardkennedyschool #socialimpact #fieldworkinsights #districtadministration #leadershipreflections

Reflecting on an Incredible Learning Experience! I recently completed the Public Policy in Action Praxis Residency Bootcamp at Scholars' House, Jamia Hamdard University, New Delhi, from July 15th to July 27th, 2024. This Bootcamp was an essential part of my journey with the PPIA Praxis Residency Programme with Transform Rural India (TRI), where I have the honour of serving as a Public Policy in Action Praxis Consultant. During Week 1 (July 15th to July 20th), we focused on Public Policy Analysis, Design, and Delivery. The sessions were led by an incredible lineup of experts, including: - Dr. Nirmalya Choudhury from TISS provided insights on understanding multidimensional poverty. - Vikram Srinivas from Harvard Kennedy School, who shared his expertise on Economics for Public Policy. - Abhishek Sharma from Sambodhi Research & Communications, who taught us about Statistics for Public Policy. - Apurva Kumar from Sambodhi Research & Communications, who guided us through Public Policy Design, Analysis, and Communication. - Dr. Akhtar Ali from Jamia Hamdard University, who explored Public Policy Delivery Architecture with us. In Week 2 (July 22nd to July 27th), we deepened our understanding by Decoding Society, Governance & Development with esteemed faculty such as: - Rashmi Shukla Sharma (Retd IAS, Chairperson, Transform Rural India Foundation), who provided a comprehensive overview of district-level governance. - Dr. Avanish Kumar, Dean at MDI Gurgaon, who discussed Anthropology & Public Policy. - Dr. Santosh Kumar, Dean at Ambedkar University, New Delhi, who shared valuable perspectives on Sociology & Public Policy. - Biraj Patnaik, Executive Director at the National Foundation for India, who spoke on the Evolution of Human Rights: Application to Public Policy and Programme Delivery. - Anish Kumar, Co-lead at Transform Rural India Foundation, who discussed the Evolution of the State: Application to Public Policy and Programme Delivery. - Yogesh Kumar, Founder of Even Cargo, who highlighted the importance of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion in Public Policy. - Agam Aggarwal, Dy Director at India Institute of Secretariat Training & Development (IISTD), who delved into the Dynamics of District Administration. This Bootcamp was a crucial step in equipping me with both academic knowledge and practical skills that I am eager to apply in Palamu, Jharkhand. The PPIA Praxis Residency Programme is a unique blend of academic excellence and hands-on experience, empowering us to address the real-world challenges faced by marginalized communities. I'm incredibly grateful for this learning opportunity and look forward to implementing these insights in my work, driving positive change, and contributing to the development of our community. #publicpolicy #transformruralindia #jharkhand #palamu #trif #tri #publicpolicyinaction #learningjourney
