"Across a range of entrepreneurs and types of disabilities that we have worked with, the moment you have a climate stressor, it makes it way worse for people with (for example) spinal cord injuries where things like temperature, humidity hinder PWDs to access livelihood and work. SELCO Foundation hosted an ecosystem stakeholder roundtable on 25 October 2024, focused on enhancing the resilience of Non-Timber Forest Product (#NTFP) value chains, bringing together key stakeholders to address the pressing challenges faced by tribal communities and PVTGs in India. With these communities collecting NTFPs worth approximately Rs. 2 trillion annually, it is vital to create an organized system that maximizes the product value and ensures fair returns. During the roundtable, stakeholders – tech enterprises, NGOs, FPOs and Producer Companies, Financiers, Market players engaged in meaningful discussions about the barriers hindering progress, such as lack of processing infrastructure, limited access to capital, and the need for groundbreaking innovations.  With the aim to build an #inclusiveecosystem that empowers communities and strengthens their livelihoods, we explored innovative solutions and collaborative strategies to co-design the Making NTFP Value Chains Resilient Program, which aims to support producer groups and community led enterprises in driving sustainable change.  Together, we can create a future where tribal communities thrive and their contributions to the economy are recognized and valued. PWDs have been champions for sustainable energy driven livelihoods. Till date SELCO Foundation has facilitated sustainable livelihoods with solar driven productive use appliances and green workspaces for over 1300 Entrepreneurs with Disabilities. Partnerships like EnAble India, The Association of People with Disability (APD, India), Rural Development and Panchayat Raj - Government of Karnataka, NLM Karnataka, BIRDS NGO, Hosabeluku etc. have made this possible.
