The Finn’s weaver is a lesser-known weaver bird species. It is found in parts of Uttarakhand and Assam in India. The species is facing the risk of extinction. It is listed as 'vulnerable' in the Red List of IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature).   Nature Science Initiative (NSI) has been a Sustainability Educator partner of the Wipro earthian Program since 2022. NSI's educators are evangelizing the Wipro earthian Program in Uttarakhand. They are spearheading community-led sustainability initiatives in the region's schools. At Wipro Foundation, we support and collaborate with teachers through our partners. These educators work with underserved communities, including children with disabilities. They continuously strive to enhance their students' learning levels and lives. Teachers are the cornerstone of all Wipro Foundation’s educational initiatives.   One of our programs, where teachers play a direct and pivotal role, is Wipro earthian. This initiative focuses on the crucial, yet often overlooked, subjects of environment and sustainability.   Since Wipro earthian's inception, we have had the privilege of working with hundreds of dedicated educators. These teachers have been instrumental in guiding their students to explore and understand topics related to sustainability.    Today, in recognition of teachers, we want to highlight the incredible efforts of the Wipro earthian educators.   In this video, you will see how Chanchal Singha Roy, a teacher at Government Senior Secondary School, Kadamtala, Middle Andaman, has been a multiple-year winner of the Wipro earthian program. Wipro Foundation has engaged in several short-term relief aids and long-term rehabilitation projects with communities impacted by disasters. In the past, we have helped rebuild the lives of people affected by Karnataka Floods, Bihar Floods, Odisha Floods, the Japan Tsunami, Hurricane Sandy, and the Philippines Cyclone, etc.   The recent catastrophic landslides in Kerala's Wayanad district have caused severe damage in many places. The disaster has affected over 3,000 families. It has resulted in the loss of many lives, livelihoods and homes. Through our Disaster Response Program, we are looking to engage with organizations who have plans to implement landslide risk mitigation projects in the Wayanad region. Empowering Educators for a Sustainable Future! We are thrilled to share that CEE, in collaboration with Wipro Foundation's Wipro earthian and Samagra Shiksha Gujarat, recently conducted five impactful workshops for over 200 teachers from government schools across Baroda, Mehsana, Banaskantha, Arvalli, and Bharuch districts. These workshops focused on key environmental topics such as water, waste, and biodiversity, incorporating essential concepts of climate science and the latest developments in the field. The sessions were designed to empower teachers with practical knowledge and innovative activities to raise awareness among students and communities, fostering climate action plans at the grassroots level. Wipro earthian, in collaboration with Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, launched the Ideas to Impact (i2I) Challenge in 2024. It is a nationwide initiative, led by IIT Madras. The competition aims to transform innovative ecological concepts into practical prototypes. These will, hopefully, actively contribute to a sustainable future. In the recently concluded 1st edition of the Challenge, five (5) teams have been selected as winners. See their innovative winning ideas on our website.
