Zizi Afrique Foundation reposted this
Recently, I had the brilliant opportunity to attend a 4-day workshop organized by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation aimed towards developing a proposal for a program aimed at promoting Global South-South knowledge sharing in the field of education, with particular focus on FLN advocacy. While India has made significant strides towards achievement of FLN outcomes in recent years with the introduction of the NIPUN Bharat Mission, considerable work still needs to be done in order to embed focus on FLN in the educational policy discourse in the country. In this context, it was wonderful to hear from education leaders from Funda Wande in South Africa, Zizi Afrique Foundation in Kenya, Centro Lemann and Todos Pela Educação in Brazil as well as Global Schools Forum, Central Square Foundation and Language and Learning Foundation in India on the work done to build political salience for FLN in their respective geographies. Hoping our deliberations during the workshop and the subsequent pitch to BMGF results in a strong program that will provide sector leaders across the four countries to learn from each other - ultimately improving the lives of millions of children. Grateful to my captains at The Education Alliance - Amitav Virmani and Dhruv Pandey for the opportunity, and to Kat Pattillo for the seamless and effective facilitation of the workshop.
