A strong agricultural sector is critical to strengthening food security and improving the livelihoods of smallholder farmers. Access to quality warehouses to store produce can enhance food security, enable farmers to fetch good prices for their commodities and more easily access financing. Great to join Yvette van Eechoud of the #Netherlands and Alfred Ombudo K'Ombudo to discuss our work to support #Kenya’s smallholder farmers by expanding access to warehouses and enhancing the availability of agricultural financing. I look forward to building on our work together with our public and private sector partners. Reducing food loss and waste isn’t just about sustainability—it’s also about increasing profitability. On November 5th, 2024, The IFC Food and Business Resilience Forum in Nairobi will bring together key players from Kenya’s agribusiness sector to explore how IFC’s food loss and waste prevention tool can create a more resilient food system. By participating, businesses can learn how to reduce costs while contributing to national food security objectives. The food loss and waste prevention tool, which will be introduced at the forum, helps businesses identify inefficiencies in their supply chains. Through data collection and analysis, this tool helps businesses better manage resources, reducing unnecessary losses and increasing profit margins. Jacques Theunissen, CEO of Kuku Foods Kenya Limited, the KFC franchisee, will be a guest speaker at the forum, sharing insights on how food loss prevention is a business opportunity. To register for the event, email Lian Lomax Hamster (llomax@ifc.org). #Kenya #FoodWaste #FLW #FoodLoss #FoodSecurity #FoodandBusiness
