IFC - International Finance Corporation's RB Balaji and Ignacio de Calonje at #WorldPTXSummit24 in Marrakech discussing green Hydrogen.
Great to be participating in the #WorldPTXSummit24 in Marrakech with my colleague RB Balaji to discuss green hydrogen opportunities in Morocco and beyond. Also good to see our friends of OCP Group who have exciting green ammonia plans afoot. At IFC - International Finance Corporation, we are focused on supporting low cost and realistic green hydrogen projects that have “no regret” use cases and credible sponsors. There has been too much hype in this space that has wasted a lot of resources and time. We need adult conversations to see how we can realisticaly advance this industry that is vital to reach net zero. David Tinel Ghita Hannane Thomas Pellerin

🌡 Soaring temperatures worldwide contribute to nearly half a million heat-related deaths and a $2.0 trillion GDP productivity loss per year. #CoolerFinance, a new joint report by IFC and UN Environment Programme, says scaling up sustainable cooling can help developing economies avoid spending $8 trillion through lower electric bills and reduced equipment and infrastructure investments. Key findings: 📈 Demand for cooling is expected to double in developing economies by 2050 due to population growth, economic expansion, and urbanization. 🌍 In developing economies, sustainable cooling solutions can slash cooling-related emissions by almost 50% by 2050. 💵 The cooling market in developing economies is expected to double to at least $600 billion by 2050, with numerous opportunities for private investment across space cooling, refrigeration, cold chains, and transport. 💰 Mobilizing private capital will be key to financing #sustainablecooling solutions. 🤝 Governments, private businesses, and multilateral banks can use this report to harness a wide range of financial instruments for sustainable cooling and resilience to extreme heat Learn more: http://wrld.bg/UVm250TvHE7 hashtag #SustainableCooling hashtag #ClimateAction hashtag #GlobalCoolingPledge hashtag #UNGA UN Environment Programme

Over the next 10 years, an unprecedented 1.2 billion young people in the Global South will become working age adults. Meanwhile, the job market is only expected to create 420 million jobs—leaving nearly 800 million without a clear path to prosperity. Though some young people will be in further education, their eventual entry into the labor market will add to this challenge. A new World Bank Group initiative aims to help: https://lnkd.in/eq4nvuhB

Access to safe drinking water is fundamental for good health, productivity, and overall development. In #Haiti, where only 4 out of 10 people in rural areas have access to clean water, IFC - International Finance Corporation and The World Bank Group's #IDA Private Sector Window are working to change this narrative.
