📢 Exciting news for #ClimateAndNature The Ocean Risk and Resilience Action Alliance (ORRAA) announced that the Coastal Risk Index (#CRI) is now live during COP16, the UN Biodiversity Conference. Fugro is proud to have partnered with ORRAA to help build the CRI. 🌊 What’s the CRI? It’s a #Geodata-powered tool that quantifies climate risk and highlights the critical role of natural defences. Take mangroves and coral reefs in the Global South. Without these natural barriers in place, the CRI estimates that 14 million more people and $363 billion in assets would be at risk of flooding each year. 🌍 Why is this important? 40% of the world lives near the coast. The CRI drives better decisions around coastal resilience, helping stakeholders and decision-makers prioritise nature-based solutions that protect communities and economies from the impacts of #ClimateChange. 💡 Learn more! 🤖 We've partnered with The National Robotarium to revolutionise offshore wind farm maintenance using our uncrewed surface vessels (USVs) with electric remotely operated vehicles (eROVs); our underwater, remote-controlled robots. Building on our track record of over a million hours of remote operations and 10+ years operating USVs and ROVs from our remote operations centres, this collaboration takes offshore automation to the next level. Use of these technologies will slash maintenance vessel fuel consumption by 97% - from 7,000 to just 200 litres per day. What is the impact of using remote and autonomous vessels? 🎯 Millimetre-precision operations even in rough seas, powered by dynamic positioning systems, satellite technology and advanced AI 🤖 More efficient operations using remote and autonomous vessels ⚡ 1500x improvement in data processing speed 🛡️ Zero risk to human life with no personnel working offshore. We control offshore work from remote operation centres located on land. We have the most experience doing this. With our knowledge, we find better ways to fix and maintain offshore equipment. What does the future of pipeline inspections look like? 🔍 We deployed our Blue Essence® USV and Blue Volta® eROV for Eni Energy Netherlands, marking a new era for pipeline inspections. Controlled from our remote operations centre in Aberdeen, the USV performed extensive surveys, covering over 1,000 linear kilometres of pipelines. This approach enhanced safety by eliminating human exposure to offshore environments and reduced emissions by 90% in comparison to conventional vessels. 🚢 Want to find out more?
