Exciting News! We are thrilled to share the successful kickoff of our groundbreaking project, "Just Transitions towards Carbon Neutral Landscapes: Tenure Rights for Restoration," implemented by LANDnet Uganda with support from TMG Research gGmbH - TMG Think Tank for Sustainability Research and the Robert Bosch Stiftung. This initiative aims to document and promote best practices in achieving Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN), striking a balance between environmental conservation and strengthening the tenure rights of indigenous people. Yesterday, our first inception meeting with traditional, religious, and community leaders from Paicho in Gulu district was a resounding success! These leaders highlighted the critical role of land governance structures, including traditional ones, in ensuring the smooth implementation of LDN measures while maintaining social cohesion. We look forward to engaging with the rest of the stakeholders in the coming days and working together to make this vision a reality. #JustTransitions #CarbonNeutralLandscapes #LandDegradationNeutrality #IndigenousRights #EnvironmentalConservation #CommunityEngagement #SustainableDevelopment UNCCD Youth Caucus TMG Research gGmbH - TMG Think Tank for Sustainability Robert Bosch Stiftung International Land Coalition Landesa Forest Watch PELUM Uganda LANDac - The Netherlands Land Academy Stella Rose Akutui Bethel Kisaarwot Lillian Achola Judith Atukunda

On this Desertification and Drought Day, LANDnet Uganda proudly joins the global community in raising awareness about the pressing issue of desertification and land degradation. As we commemorate this day, we emphasize the critical importance of secure tenure rights as a cornerstone for achieving Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN). Secure tenure rights empower communities, encourage sustainable land management practices, and protect ecosystems. By ensuring that individuals and communities have recognized and enforceable rights to their land, we create a foundation for long-term stewardship and conservation efforts. Let us all work together to promote policies and initiatives that secure land tenure, fostering resilience against desertification and contributing to a healthier planet for future generations. LANDnet Uganda remains committed to advocating for secure tenure rights and sustainable land management practices. Together, we can achieve Land Degradation Neutrality and protect our land for generations to come. #DesertificationDay #LandDegradationNeutrality #SecureTenureRights #SustainableLandManagement TMG Research gGmbH - TMG Think Tank for Sustainability Unccd Convention Forest Watch International Land Coalition FAO Landesa Oxfam International

Our very own Shining during the #LearningWeek 👏👏👏🥳🥳🥳🎉🎉🎉🎉
During this #LearningWeek I was privileged to be part of a break away session as a panelist. Our session was focusing on the Gender Transformative Approaches to land, I shared an experience of gender transformative Approaches that LANDnet Uganda has developed and successfully used for example the recent Legal curriculum that we developed on securing Women's Resource Rights with support from CIFOR-ICRAF, Toolkit on Conflict Sensitive Land Governance supported by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH among others. Key takeaway is that transformative approaches need to be deliberate, well thought out, continuous and require a concerted effort from all stakeholders while understanding their levels of influence and interest in the initiative. #LandGovernance #GenderTransformativeApproaches #ConflictSensitiveLandGovernance #LandLearningWeek

Countries at the top of the Corruption Perceptions Index 2023 may enjoy a less corrupt public sector, but they have a lot of work to do to combat transnational corruption in which they are deeply complicit. In many of the high-performing countries on the CPI, financial secrecy has been at the heart of the business model for attracting foreign investment. It is also one of the biggest obstacles to fighting globalised corruption, preventing even the most willing law enforcement agencies from investigating suspicious wealth. Financial secrecy facilitates tax abuse, enables money laundering and undermines the human rights of all. ➡️ Check out our analysis of corruption in these countries here http://anticorru.pt/2Yh ➡️ And the full index by Tax Justice Network http://anticorru.pt/2Yg

Empowering Women, Preserving Mother Earth: A Call to Action on World Earth Day" Gender-transformative land governance systems are a cornerstone of the climate change discourse, shaping how natural resources are effectively and sustainably used and managed. As advocates of responsible land governance, LANDnet Uganda proudly joins the global community in commemorating World Earth Day. As we celebrate the beauty and significance of our planet, we recognize the invaluable role of women as active agents of climate change, both at the grassroots and global levels. However, it is disheartening to note that they continue to face multifaceted challenges in accessing their land rights, hindering the attainment of a perfect balance between environmental conservation and land tenure security. This underscores the importance of working towards achieving land degradation neutrality, as outlined in Decision 26/COP.14 of the UNCCD, providing a progressive framework for striking this balance. At LANDnet Uganda, we acknowledge and celebrate the pivotal role of women in preserving “Mother Earth”. We recognize that empowering women is essential for building resilient and sustainable communities. When women are given equal access, control, and ownership to resources, and education, and are actively involved in decision-making processes, they become powerful agents of combating environmental degradation while enjoying their rights and as a result, have a peaceful coexistence and a thriving eco-system. Therefore, let's unite for gender-transformative land governance, empowering women as agents of environmental preservation. Advocate for equal access to resources and decision-making, paving the way for a sustainable future. Act now for a world where everyone, regardless of gender, thrives in harmony with Mother Nature. #GenderEquality #LandGovernance #ClimateAction #WorldEarthDay WOMEN`S LAND RIGHTS MOVEMENT-(WLRM) Oxfam in Uganda TMG Research gGmbH - TMG Think Tank for Sustainability Stand for Her Land@@ Judith Atukunda Stella Rose Akutui Lillian Achola Esther Obaikol UNFCCC-WGEO Regional Collaboration Centre (RCC) MENA and SA Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH
