🌳 Update on the 'Value of Trees' toolkit 🌿 Last year, we published our 'Value of Trees' toolkit. Now, we have published the final project closure report, marking the successful conclusion of this important project. Commissioned by ADEPT and funded by the Rees Jeffreys Road Fund, the project aimed to provide local authorities with guidance on tree planting to support climate change mitigation, resilience building and nature recovery. Leicestershire County Council, together with specialist consultants Treeconomics, took the lead on the project, which includes a tree valuation matrix - this calculates the value of different tree species according to a number of factors, including ecosystem services, biodiversity, replacement cost and amenity value. A project closure report has now been published, which outlines the project's objectives, performance, key deliverables and lessons learned. The report also provides details of a pilot implementation of the toolkit at a residential development in Leicestershire. The project has been widely successful and well received across the sector, sparking significant interest from other local authorities – it represents a significant step forward in supporting sustainable tree planting practices across the UK. ADEPT and the Environment Agency are pleased to announce the three successful Rapid Adaptation Pathway Assessment (RAPA) pilot locations. Wiltshire Council, West Sussex County Council and Severnside, South Gloucestershire Council & West of England Combined Authority are areas that offer us the ability to focus on different issues and risks relating to flooding and climate change and will help us to gather a wide range of valuable information. ADEPT is working with the Environment Agency to develop the RAPAs which are "high-level" adaptation pathways developed in workshop settings. They use the expert judgement of participating stakeholders to identify thresholds and clear actions. This approach allows for timely and informed decisions, ensuring that resources are invested effectively. Find out more about the three RAPA pilot locations here https://lnkd.in/eFAgCTJ4
