This made my day .. well year so far actually .. 🎉 when one of your partners achieves a Good Ofsted with Outstanding for Personal Development and the Association of Apprentices is quoted in the Inspection Report – 🌟 congratulations again Sammy Shummo and the team at London South Bank University. 🎉 We work with ITPs, Colleges, University and employer providers to embed essential careers information, advice and guidance, mental health & wellbeing, and personal development resources in apprentice journeys – plus apprentices get access to our nationwide network. Amazing to see its impact here...... "At LSBU, we are committed to ensuring our apprentices receive the best possible support and development opportunities throughout their journey. Our partnership with the Association of Apprentices (AoA) has been instrumental in enhancing the personal and professional growth of our apprentices, providing them with access to high-quality networking, mentoring, and development resources. This support played a key role in LSBU achieving an ‘Outstanding’ rating for Personal Development and a ‘Good’ overall rating in our recent Ofsted inspection. We strongly encourage other providers to engage with the AoA to help apprentices build their confidence, broaden their horizons, and develop the skills needed to thrive in their careers”. 📢 Very excited to announce this collaborative event between Group GTI and Association of Apprentices, kindly hosted by KPMG UK! 💡 Apprenticeships: Expectation vs Reality Ever since I saw Emily Rock (Austin) speak a year ago, I wanted to bring our unrivalled Cibyl school leaver data, together with Association of Apprentices' data and community's lived experiences, to provide a true end to end set of insights, trends and guidance for employers from early engagement to completing an apprenticeship. Having spent 2011-2021 at employers, RPOs and training providers recruiting apprentices, I'm really looking forward to this event during National Apprenticeship Week! Cibyl’s David Palmer and Association of ApprenticesEmily Rock (Austin) will dive into several key trends from an expectations and preferences standpoint, plus what apprentices are experiencing and missing in their employer journey. They'll be joined by an employer and apprentice panel, who’ll have their say on these topics and field questions from the audience.   By joining us on the day, you’ll have exposure to brand new and recently analysed data from both Cibyl and Association of Apprentices, enabling you to adapt and adopt changes to your attraction, selection, onboarding, development and retention of apprentices.   📅 Date: Wednesday 12 February 2025 ⏲️ Time: 1:30pm arrival / 2pm event start / 3:30pm networking 📍 Location: KPMG, 15 Canada Square, Canary Wharf, London, E14 5GL   Refreshments will be available throughout.   If you're an early careers leader or responsible for apprentice recruitment and development in your business, we'd love to see you there. CEO Association of Apprentices & Director at The St Martin's Group

Grateful to Government Events for asking me to represent both the Association of Apprentices and the The St Martin's Group as Chair of their National Apprenticeship Conference yesterday. A packed agenda with speakers sharing policy updates, latest research and advice on widening participation and creating and managing apprenticeship programmes. Of course, a lot of questions around level 7 apprenticeships (no decision yet, but imminent .. and yes, apprentices currently on level 7 will continue to be funded) and levy flexibilities for employers (only Foundation and Shorter Apprenticeships have been announced so far). Outside of that two big takeaways for me: ▶️ There was a big focus on attracting young people particularly those from underserved areas, and some good examples of employers outreach to widen participation - Liverpool University Hospital Foundation Trust is doing great things as are Coach Core Foundation . But the most significant barrier is simply there are not enough opportunities out there and we need to make it easier for employers to offer them. ▶️ Once you have your apprentice/s in place, you need to continue investing in their journey and apprentices themselves will tell you how best to do this – whether that’s including more mental health and wellbeing support, facilitating peer connections, mentoring or upskilling on AI, we know that the best experiences lead to successful outcomes. Great to hear from apprentices Ridhka Kakkar Simon Lister Gabrielle Reid who know what it takes.
