We're excited for the Brick Development Association (BDA) Awards on Wednesday! BGY Board Director, Andrew Henriques, will be attending - he led the refurbishment of our shortlisted project, The Ice Factory! 🧱✨ The Ice Factory is a remarkable transformation of a 19th-century building that carefully preserves its industrial heritage while introducing modern, sustainable features. It's design reflects a seamless blend of old and new, with restored brickwork and contemporary interventions creating a functional space that honours its history. This recognition celebrates the dedication, innovation, and vision behind each of the projects, and we couldn’t be prouder of our team and collaborators. We’re thrilled to share that our proposals for the redevelopment of 65 Fleet Street have gained planning consent by unanimous vote today! This landmark City project will transform over 350,000 sq ft of former derelict workspace into vibrant, professionally managed, purpose-built student accommodation in the heart of London’s Fleet Street. As a PBSA-led development for Dominus Real Estate, the proposals will also see the buildings repurposed to deliver new cultural and public uses that honour the site’s heritage and connection with the City of London. The scheme enhances the existing courtyard at the centre of the site and creates active frontage through the proposed retail and cultural spaces, collectively enhancing the public realm. BGY Board Director Andrew Henriques said: “Our vision for 65 Fleet Street embraces sustainable design and creates a destination that speaks to the future for how former office buildings with large floor plates in London and other cities can be repurposed to serve new uses and support the cultural vibrancy and mix that cities thrive on. A powerful reminder of the impact of well-designed spaces, The Passage stands as a cornerstone for the homelessness charity’s mission, providing not just shelter but an environment that fosters dignity, support, and community. The documentary sees Prince William revisit The Passage with ITV, reflecting on his first visit over 30 years ago with his mother, Princess Diana. This continued commitment highlights the importance of projects like these in creating safe, transformative spaces for London’s homeless community.
