I had a great afternoon showing the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero team around our sites in Bristol. Thank you for taking the time to come visit the schemes that you've funded and we've delivered. It was an interesting afternoon of great chats and insights. It's so useful for us to understand how some of these policy decisions are made as much as it is for them to see the challenges we face in delivering them. Thank you to all who helped organise and support the day. Sam Robinson Helen Reed Jamie Abbott Dave Cox Katherine Piper MSc Ben Roberts Martin Rowse
Yesterday, we had the pleasure of hosting a team from Department for Energy Security and Net Zero during their visit to Bristol! It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase some homes that have benefited from free retrofit work through our Bright Green Homes scheme, along with several social housing properties where we have implemented energy-saving measures 🏘️ They also toured Broughton House Energy Centre, which contains a biomass boiler supplying heating and hot water to the Redcliffe heat network. This building is one of the Bristol City Council housing blocks linked to the Bristol heat network 👷 We truly enjoyed hosting the team and are excited to continue our collaboration to support Bristol's decarbonisation efforts 🩵 #Bristol #Energy #Sustainability #Decarbonisation

🌳 A strong start to the week at Green Schools Project! 🌳 We welcomed our new team member, Loz Hennessy, who has joined us in Bristol as Community Climate Action Manager. Over the next few months, Loz will be working with our Bristol Zero Carbon Schools to help them take their pupil-powered climate action beyond the school gates into the community. A big welcome to Loz and huge thanks to Bristol City Leap for funding this new role. Loz got stuck in straight away, attending an event organised by the Cabot Institute for the Environment and School of Education, University of Bristol on Green Skills and Climate Education. The event brought together academics and staff from across the university who heard from Tom Hague about Green Schools Project's work and to discuss opportunities to collaborate on climate education and development of green skills for the future. Lots of energy, ideas and opportunity that we are excited to make happen! Particular thanks to Ed Atkins and Vicky Jones for organising the event and to everyone who came along. 👇For those interested in reading more about our programme and impact - see link in comments for our most recent Impact Report 👇 University of Bristol Business School Dr Nicola Warren-Lee Paul Howard-Jones Josie Maskell Terra Sprague Megha Phadkay Andy Wakefield

Come hear me and my wonderful colleague Katherine Piper MSc talk about retrofit at The West of England Retrofit Summit. I'll be sharing Bristol City Leap's work to date and talking about our future ambitions in retrofitting domestic energy efficiency and low carbon technology in Bristol. Katherine will be sharing her own personal experience of retrofitting in her house. #retrofit #energy #bristol
Considering retrofitting your home? I recently installed a heat pump, triple glazing, internal wall insulation and a porch, alongside furnishing everything with second hand materials! And I'm now planting a nature-friendly garden. It has been a mission but well worth it... Come hear me speak about the highs and the lows at The West of England Retrofit Summit 2025 taking place 25th-27th March mornings. Attendance is online and free! Hope to see you there.
