We are delighted to congratulate Conor, Max, Tom and Olly (l to r) on achieving their Level 4 Construction Site Supervisor Apprenticeships. All four attended London South Bank University on day release as well as working on our sites and at head office with dedicated mentors to guide them. They all agree that by completing an apprenticeship it allowed them to work on some of the most prestigious projects in the city enabling them to apply theory to their studies. It's been a day of Christmas jumpers, trees and treats here at Brown & Carroll. Our resident baker, Louise Moss knows how to cheer us up on a rainy day and has been selling her cakes to raise money for Save the Children. Tracy Gleeson and the Christmas squad have decorated our gorgeous tree and the team here at HQ have donned their jumpers to raise money for this worthwhile charity. We count ourselves extremely lucky that yesterday, we welcomed Ray Elliott and Justin Manley from The Lighthouse Charity to our HQ in Essex. Ray and Justin are ambassadors from the #makeitvisible tour and shared their first hand life experiences with the focus on the importance of positive mental health and wellbeing The feedback we have received from our team has been fantastic and shows us the value of talking openly and honestly when it comes to mental health. It’s wonderful to see the bench being used regularly and Trust Links - Community Mental Health is such a valuable charity we were happy to be able to support.
We recently posted about how one of our valued clients, TWO Services Ltd., helped out local charity Trust Links - Community Mental Health by generously donating an electric cooker and dishwasher. As a result, Trust Links can now offer its members weekly cooking activities as well as providing hot meals for visitors that only cost £1 each. TWO Services isn’t our only client supporting Trust Links in its mission to improve mental health, wellbeing and the environment in our part of Essex. Another proud supporter is well-known fit-out specialist, Brown & Carroll (London) Ltd. Last year, one of Brown & Carroll’s master craftsmen, Ed Campion, volunteered his time and skills to help out Trust Links. Over the course of one-and-a-half weeks, Ed painstakingly constructed a 16-seat, hexadecagonal bench out of wood. He didn’t even work from drawings, instead preferring to work out the complex calculations himself! During a recent visit to Trust Links’ community garden in Basildon, our Director Tony Burrows saw the bench, which has pride of place. The wood has weathered delightfully and now has an attractive silvery-grey colour. Trust Links’ Head of Fundraising and Communications, Nicky Evans MInstF (Dip), dropped Tony a line to thank him for his visit and to thank Brown & Carroll for their help. She said: “We send special thanks for Brown & Carroll’s kind support – the bench is used regularly and is a great addition to the project.” We’re proud to work with clients that make such a positive impact. Thanks to the generosity of our employees, these products have made their way to The Olive Academy in Thurrock. The Olive Academy is an alternative provision school which specialises in supporting children at risk of exclusion and young people who have been been permanently excluded from school. We are delighted to again support the school and contribute to their Key Stage 4 Curriculum, this time their BTEC Hair and Beauty for year 10 & 11 students. Callum has recently joined us after completing 6th form and will further his education by attending university to complete his Construction Site Supervisor Apprenticeship. After spending some time at our head office, Callum is now on site shadowing our experienced team and cannot wait to see first hand the amazing projects we are involved in.
