Delighted to come together as a team in person at #AIDS2024 – and what a week it has been! We participated in engaging panels, attended insightful networking sessions, and connected with our amazing partners and organizations within the AIDS community. Here’s to continuing to making progress toward a healthier and more equitable world.
About us
The Elton John AIDS Foundation was established in 1992 and is one of the leading independent AIDS organisations in the world. The Foundation’s mission is simple: an AIDS free future. We are committed to no more discrimination. No more HIV infections. No more AIDS death. No matter who or where you are. The Foundation works at all levels to influence change. With the mobilization of our network of generous supporters and partners, we fund local experts in 23 countries to spread awareness, prevent infections and provide care and treatment for the most marginalised groups. We harness local knowledge and innovation and motivate governments to end AIDS. We will not stop until there is an AIDS free future.

“We seek to lead with compassion, inclusion, human rights, public health, and scientific evidence. This approach is equally vital in drug policy. It mirrors the blueprint that has driven the successes of the HIV movement,” Elton John and former New Zealand Prime Minister and Chair of The Global Commission on Drug Policy, Helen Clark, share in a co-authored piece for The Telegraph. In light of #AIDS2024’s theme, "Putting People First", Elton and Helen discuss how marginalised communities, particularly people who use drugs, continue to get left behind due to punitive laws. Both leaders urge for the global focus on funding and implementing effective harm reduction services. Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/eZhjhn_P

Announcing a $25 million commitment to tackle rising HIV rates in Eastern Europe and Central Asia! We must end the AIDS epidemic for everyone, everywhere. No region or community should be left behind. We’ve long worked in places that others don’t to ensure that we’re tackling HIV where help is most needed. Today, we announce a further $25 million in funding to address the HIV crisis in Eastern Europe and Central Asia through our ground-breaking partnership Radian with Gilead Sciences. Since launching Radian in 2019, we have: ➡ Reached 271,000 people with lifesaving HIV services ➡ Provided over 114,000 HIV tests ➡ (Re-)initiated over 26,500 people on antiretroviral therapy ➡ Trained more than 14,000 frontline workers to reduce stigma and discrimination. Over the next five years, RADIAN 2.0 will continue to provide the most marginalized communities with the HIV services, treatment and care they so urgently need: https://lnkd.in/evqZYC7q

❗ It’s time to stamp out stigma ❗ Today is Zero HIV Stigma Day. Stigma perpetuates health inequality by: 👉 Creating hostile environments that instill fear 👉 Pushing people away from lifesaving services At the Elton John AIDS Foundation, we’re committed to ending stigma to achieve health equity for all, and ensuring that everyone, regardless of their HIV status, can live a healthy, dignified life. Meet Tommy, Vice President of Social Platform Development and Safety at The Trevor Project, one of the many new organizations Elton John AIDS Foundation, is funding to protect LGBTQ+ people around the world. Tommy oversees TrevorSpace, an online community with over 650,000 members that sets itself apart by focusing exclusively on LGBTQ+ youth. “As I was coming to terms with my identity as a gay man, having a resource like TrevorSpace would have been invaluable. When you're coming out, you don't always know who around you identifies as LGBTQ+. But with an online community dedicated to that, you can just log on and find people like you. The Trevor Project’s in-house moderation team has a comprehensive understanding of issues related to LGBTQ+ young people. A portion of the funding from the Elton John AIDS Foundation will fund one moderator role which will help to keep TrevorSpace a safe online space.
