These are the innovators embarking on our next Health Innovation Programme who had their launch webinar today, meeting each other and our Industry and Innovation team, and describing the innovation they are working on ahead of four days on the course. There needs to be a fast start to the HIP to fit in all that we've planned for them, so holding the introductions today and setting them a short task now will save valuable time on the first day. They will have sessions on developing their value proposition, navigating the NHS and social care marketplaces, collecting evidence, conducting stakeholder engagement, mapping their route to market through the regulatory system and will receive personalised mentoring. The course culminates with each of them giving a market access presentation to a guest panel of members from the health innovation sector, amalgamating all they have learnt throughout the course. The HIP is a biannual affair and all our delegates' places, 17 of them this time, are fully-funded to help us meet the dual objectives of improving patient outcomes and supporting UK economic growth. Our best wishes to all of them for the programme, we hope you all gain a huge amount from it. A parliamentary reception this week gave our Chief Executive Nicola Bent the opportunity to meet Kit Malthouse, a Wessex MP and Chair of the Life Sciences APPG. The Health Innovation Network convened the reception with six trail-blazing innovators from around the country and Karin Smyth, Minister of State at the Department of Health and Social Care, among the many guests. She gave a keynote address, speaking about how inspiring she found the network in its support of innovators and providing continuous improvement to the NHS. By showcasing a selection of the innovators the Health Innovation Network works with, we could all demonstrate how health innovation is driving economic growth through supporting a thriving life sciences sector. Our thanks to everyone involved in allowing a highly successful reception to take place.

We had Angus Donald and Gemma Snell among the speakers and mentors in Bournemouth today for the Health and Social Care Industry Collaboration Summit, focusing on the opportunities for innovators in Dorset. There were about 55 people attending this third in a series of events from Dorset LEP and Kevin Brooks, a member of our Funding Support Service. Also among the contributors were Wessex Health Partners, British Business Bank South West, Barclays Eagle Labs, NIHR (National Institute for Health and Care Research), Arts University Bournemouth, Bournemouth University and the Health Sciences University. The programme aims to explore future supply chain opportunities that address the health and care needs of NHS Dorset's population and attracted professionals and SMEs in the health and care sector, innovators and businesses seeking local collaborations, social care providers, academics and members of health and care research and development communities.

We are proud to be driving change in women’s health alongside our partners. Last week Nicky Smith, Innovation and Adoption Programme Manager at Health Innovation Wessex, had the honour of presenting at Dorset Healthcare's Quality Matters Conference 2025. Reflecting on the day, Nicky shared: "It is great to be working in partnership with Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust to improve women's health. Presenting our work on the Dorset Women's Health programme provided a fantastic opportunity to share insights and have thoughtful discussions on our next steps. I really enjoyed learning more about the other innovation programmes across the system and it was important to take a moment to reflect and celebrate achievements." Stay tuned for the launch of the Dorset Women's Health online resources, part of the innovative virtual care model going live in April 2025. #WomensHealth #Innovation #QualityMatters #Collaboration #HealthEquity #DorsetWomen #HealthcareTransformation #DorsetHealthcare
