Great to get our technical teams together yesterday for some insightful in-house training on Approved Document M (Part M) of the Building Regulations. Part M ensures buildings are accessible and inclusive for everyone, focusing on ease of access, circulation spaces, and essential facilities, especially accommodating those with disabilities. Thank you to Trevor Clements MRICS AIFireE, who expertly led the session and facilitated engaging discussions. Great to see some new photos of the care home in South Oxhey! Furzewood Lodge includes 75 bedrooms, with integrated assistive technology to enable greater independence. We've been inspecting the South Oxhey redevelopment programme for some years and have seen first-hand the differences the new accommodation, and infrastructure have made to the area. Lovely sunny #firstdayofspring to drive through the Knebworth estate to enjoy some breakfast networking with the construction crowd. Equally good was my visit to Oaklands College construction centre with Herts & Beds Constructing Excellence Club and R G Carter. The new Construction Centre is one of only six colleges in the country chosen to partner with the CITB and the Home Builders Federation (HBF) in their prestigious ‘Partner a College’ project. Through this initiative, students gain invaluable hands-on experience with top housebuilders in the southeast, preparing them to play a vital role in delivering the government’s ambitious target of 1.5 million new homes over the next five years. With hands-on state-of-the-art facilities and 'cool' vibe I'm sure it will inspire the next generation in much-needed construction skills. Heading up to Yorkshire tomorrow for some elderly care duties, fingers crossed that this weather holds! On Tuesday Rachel Legood returned to Oaklands College's new construction centre with Herts & Beds Constructing Excellence Club. The 3,100m² two-story steel frame teaching block includes construction areas, teaching facilities, break-out areas and an exposed ceiling designed to show the inner workings. All supporting the next generation in construction trades, renewables and construction management. Thank you to R G Carter and Briggs & Forrester Group for their presentations and tour! Next, it was Knebworth Construction Breakfast this morning with Gyoury Self Partnership (St Albans).
