KTA are delighted to introduce our newly qualified Architect Shannon Ciriaco. Having joined KTA in 2018, Shannon has gained vast experience working on projects at different scales and sectors including healthcare, residential and listed buildings. She enjoys seeing the progress of each project she works on from the initial design stages through to on-site construction and dealing with the challenges which come at each stage. Outside of the office, Shannon is a regular at the gym and enjoys testing her strength week on week!
About us
KTA is an Exeter based Studio whose roots go back to 1984, with a group of design professionals with considerable experience and an enviable reputation working on a number of projects across the UK. That reputation is based on winning a substantial number of awards, including six coveted Civic Trust Awards. Several quality public and private buildings are the result of national competition triumphs. View our projects at www.kta.uk.com. We are involved in many Sectors including Learning, Health, Living, Commercial, Sports/Stadia, Hospitality/Leisure, Aviation and Arts/Culture. We believe that skilful architects have the opportunity to enhance people’s lives and it is this which forms the enthusiastic design philosophy of the Studio. The two Directors have assembled a dedicated and enthusiastic team of Architects and Technicians, backed up by state of the art Revit facilities throughout. An in-house service is provided by a visualisation team who can produce the very latest presentation material, perspectives, colour and interiors, all backed up by ‘walk through’ and ‘fly through’ productions using drone footage. We can give Clients a virtual reality of our designs through VR headsets: this has proved to be a very popular and effective tool, which underwrites our own design decisions with truthful techniques. Our design teams always aim to provide visually exciting and workable schemes that fit Clients’ needs. We are always very conscious of budget and quality and we are very proud of our reputation in all these respects.

We had a blast in April at Denley's Essence of India and so decided to go back again last Friday. The KTA team had a fun-filled social, complete with mouth-watering food. It was refreshing to be away from the office and spend quality time together. We even discovered that some of us can handle the heat a little better than others...🌶️🌶️🌶️

Great to complete one of our first projects for Somerset NHS Foundation Trust in Musgrove Hospital. Laura Freer and Shannon Ciriaco have done a great job designing and supporting the installation of a CT scanner and support rooms in a busy ED department.
HBC Assist Musgrove Park Hospital with Construction of New CT Scanner Facility and Emergency Department Rooms We’re pleased to unveil our recently remodelled rooms adjacent to the ED to facilitate the installation of a dedicated CT scanner – a game-changer for emergency care. The works have included: 🔸 External 60-minute fire-retardant hoarding installed in public corridors to ensure safety. 🔸 The CT Scanner was moved from Bridgwater Community Hospital. 🔸 Forming a lead-lined wall and ceiling area within the CT scanner room. 🔸 Constructing an associated reporting room and adjoining control room. 🔸 Relocating a sluice room to accommodate the new layout. 🔸 Widening the ED corridor to allow bed travel between the ED and CT scanner areas. 🔸 Reducing two ED examination bays while ensuring the department remained fully operational. Working within a live emergency department required meticulous planning and coordination. By refurbishing these two examination bays, we were able to minimise disruption and maintain patient care while the new CT scanner was being installed, ensuring the department remained operational throughout the project. As a specialist healthcare sector provider, we are proud to continue our work alongside the dedicated team at Musgrove Park Hospital, contributing to a range of unique projects over the years that enhance healthcare facilities and improve patient care for the community. With the completion date fast approaching, Shelley Oliver & Elliot McCall made a visit down to the Plymouth Business School last week to admire the progress on site. The internals are really starting to come to life, with teaching and social spaces that are completely unrecognisable from those in the existing building. Kier Group

We are delighted to have achieved planning approval at committee for the Appledore Clean Marine Innovation Centre and bring a derelict site back into use. KTA, working alongside BAM UK & Ireland and Torridge District Council have designed a state-of-the-art, £16m government funded Innovation Centre which is expected to establish Appledore as a world-leader in clean ship building and boost North Devons economy. We are extremely proud to have been part of this development and are working hard to ensure it is a success! Ward Williams Hydrock, now Stantec

We were thrilled to come away with the win at the Services Design Solution (SDS) Raceworld Ltd Charity Night in aid of Farms for City Children last night. KTA successfully defended our title from last year which is a satisfying achievement following some last minute team changes. Thank you to all involved in organising the event and everyone else that took part. What a great way to raise money for a fantastic national charity. 🏎

The KTA Cricket team had a good showing at the TBF DevonandCornwall Annual Cricket day. We may not have made the finals but we certainly enjoyed an afternoon out in the sun catching up with fellow construction industry professionals. #Cricket 🏏
