Our first UK event of 2025 was an inspiring tour of MCM, where Ana Rita Martins and Maria Alejandra Taylor shared how being a B Corp company shapes their approach to design. Yet another insightful studio tour by WOD UK team Lauren Thompson , Ashley Jones & Harsha Kotak The design of MCM’s studio showcases their core values, incorporating circular design concepts, sustainable materials, and second-life furniture and products. MCM’s commitment to B Corp values also extends to their supply chain and companies they partner with, such as with The Glasshouse - a social enterprise that maintains the studio’s vibrant greenery while offering second chances to women prisoners nearing the end of their sentences. We were privileged to hear from Netti Braun-Rosen from The Glasshouse, who shared her powerful and inspiring story. As part of the studio tour event - and in alignment with empowering women - Lauren Parmar (MOOD LDN) led a dynamic coaching taster session. She guided the group in setting meaningful intentions for 2025 and provided practical tools to help us shape a new self-concept for the year ahead. #womeninofficedesign

Can AI help us design a better future? AI is coming. Fast. And although we may not be able to stop it. We can decide how we use it. For a while now, I’ve been asking: Why isn’t regenerative design—our best shot at a better future—scaling fast enough? We’ve seen great ideas in sustainable design. But too often, they feel like greenwashing. Surface-level fixes rather than true transformation. Regenerative design principles offer a way forward. But scaling it? That’s where we seem to be struggling. It’s slow. It’s complex. So here’s the big question: Could AI be the key to making it happen? Maybe the real barrier to achieving this nature-focused approach isn’t the technology. Maybe it’s our imagination. Our ability to see what’s possible. Used correctly, AI can challenge how we think. It has the potential to rewrite the rules. And maybe, just maybe, it could help us create a future where design isn’t just less bad—but actually makes things better. I know AI brings big questions. Big risks. But as long as the possibility exists for the design industry to use this powerful tool in building a better world, one that works with nature, not against it—Then I believe there's the opportunity to do so. What do you think? 👉 What’s stopping regenerative design from scaling? 👉 How could AI help? I’ll be diving deeper into this in the coming weeks.

A Memorable Visit to MCM Studio, London – Insights, Connections & New Perspectives I recently had the incredible opportunity to visit MCM studio in London, an event thoughtfully organized by WOD - Women in Office Design. It was an inspiring experience that not only broadened my perspective on sustainable design but also allowed me to connect with like-minded professionals passionate about the future of interiors. A highlight of the visit was the self-reflection session led by Lauren Parmar, which truly encouraged us to pause and re-evaluate our personal and professional journeys. Her thought-provoking insights helped me shift perspectives, emphasizing the importance of self-awareness and intentional growth in our careers. The studio tour, led by Ana Rita Martins, was equally enlightening. She shared how she successfully shaped the interiors of the office space by incorporating second-life furniture, demonstrating how design can be both beautiful and sustainable. It was inspiring to see firsthand how MCM embraces sustainability and circularity, making conscious choices that reduce environmental impact without compromising on style and functionality. I walked away from this visit with a renewed sense of purpose and a deeper understanding of how design can drive positive change. Thank you to WOD for organizing such an insightful experience and to MCM Studio for their warm hospitality. Looking forward to applying these learnings in my own journey and continuing to explore innovative approaches to sustainable interior design. 🌿✨ #InteriorDesign #Sustainability #WomenInOfficeDesign #CircularDesign #ProfessionalGrowth #Networking #MCMStudio #WOD

A Call for HELP! To all my peers in the industry, we need your help. At WOD - Women in Office Design, we frequently hear from junior designers and fresh graduates who are struggling to break into the industry. The most common story we hear - “I applied for a job but was told I don't have enough prior experience.” Sounds familiar? It’s the classic ‘chicken and egg’ dilemma – what comes first, the job or the experience? As an industry, how are we helping solve this issue for the hundreds of talented graduates who are ready to contribute but can’t get their foot in the door? We’re looking to change this. If you or your company are hiring junior team members who can support with design, drafting, materials research, library management, and more, please reach out to me directly at hello@woduk.com. It’s time we act as an industry to make real changes and create opportunities for the next generation of talent. Rant over! :) Tagging my contacts and partners to help spread the word. Please repost, share with your HR teams, and let’s do our part to make a difference. Thank you!
