And that’s a wrap on #NuclearWeek in Parliament 2025… 🥳😮💨
What an incredible, albeit exhausting, 3 days in Westminster. Over 1,000 industry attendees and over 120 Parliamentarians attended the 20 events, where our Nuclear Week Sponsors truly highlighted the breadth and reach of the civil nuclear sector. Our biggest #NuclearWeek yet!
The Nuclear Industry Association hosted four core events throughout the week, starting on Monday with the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Nuclear Energy Welcome Reception, kindly sponsored by APPG Co-Chair Josh MacAlister MP. We heard invaluable insights from the government’s Nuclear Minister Lord Hunt, Laurent Odeh from Urenco Global, and Chris Cholerton from Rolls-Royce.
On Tuesday we held the Skills & Apprenticeship Fair, kindly sponsored by Liz Saville Roberts MP - who treated us to a speech in Welsh! Over 125 apprentices showcased the fantastic opportunities across the sector, with speeches from the Minister for Skills and Government Spokesperson for Equalities Jacqui Smith, NSAN 2024 Apprentice of the Year Cailey Miller, Max Baldwin and Amy Vida Simpson from KBR, Inc. and Frazer-Nash Consultancy, and Jacq Longrigg from the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority.
Tuesday evening was the (rather eventful) Executive Dinner, in the unexpected venue of the Conrad London St. James. Thank you to Charlotte Nichols MP, Rob Guyler from EDF (UK), and Simon Harrison from Mott MacDonald for your excellent speeches, and to all attendees for your flexibility with the sudden change of plans!
On Wednesday we concluded with the Great British Nuclear Reception, hosted by our new NIA Chair, Lord Iain McNicol. Thank you to Simon Bowen FREng at Great British Nuclear, Shadow Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero Andrew Bowie MP, Chair of the Energy Security and Net Zero Select Committee Bill Esterson MP, and Ivan Baldwin from Bechtel Corporation for your enthusiastic contributions.
To our #NuclearWeek sponsors, thank you all for your support and incredible fringe events, you are the backbone of the civil nuclear sector.
To the NIA team, I couldn’t have pulled this off without you! A special shout out to Joseph Ridding, who has helped pull this whole week off in his first month in the role 💪🏼
A truly incredible way to kick off what is undoubtedly going to be an absolutely crucial year for the nuclear industry. ⚛
Now for a well earned rest!
