Watch the first weld in the reactor building on unit 1’s primary circuit. This work will connect together the reactor pressure vessel (RPV), four steam generators and the four main coolant pumps. The welds will be some of the most complex and critical on our project. #BuiltByUs

We’re investing in wind, nuclear and solar to help prevent future energy crises and help Britain achieve Net Zero.
About us
EDF is helping Britain achieve Net Zero by leading the transition to a cleaner, low-emission, electric future and helping prevent future energy crises. Our nuclear fleet has supplied low-carbon electricity to UK homes for more than 40 years, and we’re helping with the development of new nuclear stations at Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C. But we’re not stopping there. EDF is also investing in wind, solar and battery storage technology and helping customers decarbonise their homes and businesses through low-carbon tech such as heat pumps and electric vehicles. We've built a coalition of 35 organisations, from major energy suppliers to consumer advocates, to call on Ed Miliband to deliver urgent reform of outdated levies on electricity. Right now, homes with electric heating, often low-income households and renters, are paying up to £450 more per year than gas users. This isn’t fair. Reforming levies is a crucial step to tackling fuel poverty and making clean energy affordable for all. It was a pleasure to speak at the New Statesman's inaugural Igniting Growth conference this week, joining a panel with Lord David Blunkett, Mike Reader, Kate McGavin and Victoria Barlow to discuss strategies for revitalising Britain's infrastructure as part of the Government's new growth mission. One of the issues we discussed was the need to focus on ‘build and repeat’ for UK infrastructure – repeating an already built design with as few changes as possible helps to bring costs and risk down as expertise, supply chains and skills are developed. This approach is proving successful at #HinkleyPointC, the UK's first new #nuclear power station in a generation, with a 20-30% performance improvement by replicating work from Unit 1 on Unit 2. Its sister project, Sizewell C, is also benefiting from these lessons learned. These projects will each support around 70,000 jobs across Britain during their construction and together will power 14% of the UK’s electricity demand. They are real living examples of the huge economic growth opportunities that new energy infrastructure can ignite across the country. #NewStatesman #IgnitingGrowth

🌍 A fantastic day yesterday in #EDFLab_Saclay for the EDF R&D Annual Convention! EDF Group remains one of the biggest investors in R&D among utilities worldwide, and this annual event is always a great opportunity to reconnect with colleagues—both familiar faces and new ones. This year’s theme—international collaboration—was particularly exciting. It was inspiring to hear from colleagues across our global R&D centres in the US, China, Asia, and Europe. Bringing together diverse perspectives and operational experiences creates immense value for EDF Group, reinforcing the strength of our global innovation and research network. I was very happy and proud of the opportunity to present EDF (UK) perspective—explaining how our research and innovation are helping Britain achieve net zero. Equally proud to see talented researchers like Gustavo Medina Vazquez share their expertise, particularly in AI-driven international collaborations. ✨ But the real highlight of the day? Our UK R&D team winning one of the the prestigious R&D Trophy! Huge congratulations to Julie Jolly, Sanaa Zannane, Mathilde Hamon, Cécile Geier and Madeleine Bailey-Hall—not only for their impactful pitch but for the hard work behind the #FLASH project, a project together with our UK Customers business and partners exploring how solar solutions for social housing, incentivized demand flexibility as well as using electric vehicles and heat pumps for electric storage, can help a wide range of customers across the country save cash and carbon. Very rewarding to see their efforts recognized—not only by our Group R&D Director and CTO Bernard SALHA but also by a minister Sylvie Retailleau! This is a great recognition of the dedication, innovation, and impact of our teams. Proud to be part of EDF UK and EDF R&D! 🚀💡 Kevin McDonald Philippe COMMARET Simone Rossi Rebecca Rosling Redwan Choudhury Jordan Murkin David Ferguson Marie Renner Katharine Baker Roberto Moreira Julien Pestourie Edouard LAVILLONNIERE Wenhui Du Nurten Dr. Avci Alberto Pasanisi

When it comes to your energy invoice, we understand there are quite a lot of factors and terminology which can be confusing! The difference between unit rates and standing charges and knowing what these mean is important for small business owners to be aware of. We want to keep things simple and easy for busy business owners to understand. In this video, one of our helpful small business energy specialists explains the differences between the two charges and where they can be found on your invoice.
