Last week, we welcomed two work experience students who had the opportunity to collaborate with various teams at OPDC. They gained valuable insights into the day-to-day operations of OPDC and experienced the working world first hand! Both students are residents of the OPDC area and found their time here incredibly valuable. They learned about the significant effort involved in managing the UK's largest #regeneration project, attended key meetings, and interacted with #industry professionals. We appreciated their fresh perspectives, and we're proud to be supporting the next generation of real estate #professionals! A special thank you to HS2 (High Speed Two) Ltd for inviting them to visit the #construction site at Old Oak Common Station for a closer look.

We are excited to be one of the government’s first heat network zones. Announced as one of six areas across the UK, we are pioneering new and innovative technology to deliver low-cost, low carbon energy using surplus heat from data centres – enough to heat and power over 10,000 new homes, businesses and a major hospital. We are in the final stages of procurement for a partner to help us develop this innovative new heat network and look forward to sharing exciting updates on this soon! The Old Oak and Park Royal Heat Network Zone will play a key role in the government’s plan to accelerate the delivery of heat networks across England, using our project to inform the work to reduce bills, enhance energy security, and achieve net zero by 2050. As one of the first heat network zones, we’re leading the way in developing low carbon infrastructure - supporting current and future generations of Londoners in Old Oak and Park Royal to live more sustainability. As part of our London Investment Prospectus launch week, we hosted delegates yesterday to explore two of London’s mega projects featured in the prospectus, both of which are transforming the city’s infrastructure. The day began at the Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation (OPDC), where delegates attended a presentation and tour led by OPDC CEO David Lunts. They also heard from Executive Director of Delivery Gareth Blacker and Development Director Marianne Brook, who shared insights on the master plan and vision for the area, including the development of 9,000 homes before heading up to the roof to view the whole site area whilst the skies were clear. In the afternoon, we visited Millennium Mills, Silvertown with Lendlease, supported by The Royal Docks Team and the Greater London Authority. Lendlease Project Director Ed Mayes led the tour, presenting the investment opportunities across the 60-acre Silvertown development, which will deliver 6,500 homes. Paul Creed, Head of Development & Placemaking at the Royal Docks, also joined to discuss the broader vision for the Royal Docks area.

Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation (OPDC) buys site for energy centre and unveils plans to kickstart circular economy in Park Royal. The 15,000 sq. ft building on Minerva Road will be developed into an energy centre to reclaim waste heat from nearby datacentres. It will provide low-carbon, low-cost energy to heat 10,000 new homes in Old Oak, as well as businesses and a major hospital. However, before turning the former industrial warehouse into an energy centre in 2026, OPDC unveils plans to transform the building into a circular economy hub for the community, where local organisations will repurpose waste materials into new, useful and affordable products saving 28 tonnes of carbon per year and generating over £20,000 in the local economy. This project is a great example of value can be more than economic, bringing back an important quote by Katie Kopec, International Director, JLL in the “How Is London Going to Keep Its Cool? Exploring Ecosystem Resilience to Urban Uncool” Panel at #MIPIM2024: 🗣️“If we want London to be the most resilient city in the world. We need to make sure we drive it ourselves.” "I'd love to see 'value' be broader than just economic, a recalibration so we can justify outcomes based on ESG too. If you create great places, you will ultimately make more money." Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan #Energy #Sustainability #ClimateChange Read more: https://lnkd.in/ejpVyR9A
