Reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) has long been a cause for concern, with structural performance issues identified as far back as the 1980s. Fast forward four decades, and the risks are no longer hidden—Britain’s schools are crumbling, according to government reports that highlight the hidden dangers of collapse and the very real risk to life. We were delighted to attend the official opening of the new home for The Royal Corps of Army Music at Sandhurst, formally opened by HRH The Duchess of Edinburgh GCVO on 23rd January. The c£12m facility, named The Duchess of Edinburgh Hall, is a state-of-the-art facility offering world-class amenities to support Army musicians. This project was a truly collaborative effort between Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), the Army, Pick Everard, Perfect Circle, Willmott Dixon, HLM Architects and SCAPE.
