Our business was founded by American entrepreneur Harry Gordon Selfridge in 1909 and is widely regarded as the first and best example of a modern department store. In 2018, Selfridges was recognised as the Best Department Store in the World for an unprecedented fourth time, and will retain the honour until 2020. Selfridges has been a leading London retail destination and a UK landmark for over a century, challenging the rules of retail from day one. This award acknowledges that Selfridges has outstanding leadership in delivering extraordinary customer experiences, driven by exceptional business acumen, combined with consistently brave creativity and an unwavering commitment to sustainability. Selfridges has four stores; in London, Birmingham and Manchester (Trafford Centre, and Exchange Square) all celebrating exciting experiences and new product destination launches. IN TOUCH WITH EARTH: WILLIAM COBBING AT THE ART BLOCK 🌱 Artist William Cobbing talks to the inspiration behind Janus Season at the #SelfridgesLondon Art Block, our permanent exhibition space in the Accessories Hall. The installation, composed of three pieces, features ‘Eye Spy’, which is inspired by the two-faced sculpture Janus Bifrons from the Vatican Museum. Exhibiting January to October at #SelfridgesLondon.

HOUSE OF BANDITS LANDS AT #SELFRIDGESLONDON 🎨 A brand new House of Bandits concept store and gallery by Sarabande Foundation: Established by Lee Alexander McQueen is now open at #SelfridgesLondon. Offering a curation of limited-edition artwork, alongside lifestyle pieces and fashion by friends and supporters including Thom Browne and Jake Chapman - all sales will go to fund Sarabande’s mission to support the fearless creatives of our future. A rich programme of talks, artist workshops and more aims to encourage a revitalised engagement with the arts, with tickets available soon.
