About us
Shepheard Epstein Hunter people function form: we are an experienced, award-winning architects’ practice, exceptionally diverse and typically 50% female, combining youthful enthusiasm with mature reflection and experience over decades. Respected for our intelligent designs, imagination and ability to deliver, our work has been recognised in some sixty awards schemes in the last fifteen years. We have evolved from our early twentieth century roots of optimistic regeneration, new housing, schools and universities for growing and changing communities, and are driven today by a similar passion for how people use space and resources, and the lasting quality and social impact of good design. We seek to make projects that last, give pleasure, are practical in use, good value for money and sustainable, in a way that is people-focused and driven by the unique characteristics of the site and the brief. For us, every project, from masterplan to the smallest detail, is a unique and fresh opportunity to realise potential and enhance people’s lives. We believe the best projects grow out of teamwork, dialogue and enjoyable collaboration. The practice is owned by those who lead and manage it. We believe in responsible business and have developed our own independently certified Quality and Environmental Management Systems. Shepheard Epstein Hunter is an RIBA Chartered Practice.

Incredible! Our Church Grove project is 3rd Place in The Guardian’s ‘Best Art and Architecture of 2024’! Described in the Guardian as ‘A ray of hope in an otherwise bleak housing scene…’ the Guardian note ‘Facing being priced out of London, or stuck in insecure rentals for eternity, one plucky community decided to get on and build their dream for themselves. Church Grove is the stunning result – the largest community-led and partly self-built housing project ever undertaken in the capital, a place where the price of these light-flooded, co-designed homes will be tied to local income for ever. A ray of hope in an otherwise bleak housing scene’. Full article in comments.

Fantastic to be at the topping out ceremony for this Lovell/ Guinness Partnership Housing project in Stevenage.
