Over the last few weeks our we've been meeting with local MPs to talk about the work that our brilliant colleagues have been doing for their constituents. We've been accelerating investment ahead of our most ambitious plan for the region - investing £3.2bn over the next five years, on top of the £1.2bn we've already spent over the last two years. Our plans to have more customers as shareholders, through our unique WaterShare+ scheme, directly gives our communities a voice in their water company, with more to come. Next week, Ofwat will deliver its final determination on our 5-year plan - as we continue to focus on what matters most to our customers. About us
South West Water is part of Pennon Group plc. We provide reliable, efficient and high quality drinking water and waste water services throughout Cornwall and Devon and in small areas of Dorset and Somerset. We also look after the region's bathing waters and coastline. South West Water came into being in 1989 with the privatisation of the water industry. We inherited a water system suffering from a century of neglect but, thanks to the tireless work of our 1,300 employees, have brought the region's drinking water, sewerage systems and bathing waters into line with the stringent UK and European Union standards. This extensive programme of environmental improvement has resulted in some of the finest bathing waters in Europe, picturesque scenery and clean rivers with stunning wildlife. We believe that by investing in the future of our region, we are not only improving the quality of life for today's residents and visitors but are also taking responsibility for future generations.

We’re proud to share how our £260,000 investment is making a real difference for communities in North Devon. 🌍💧 We’ve achieved a 90% reduction in storm overflow spills at Stibb Cross and Langtree wastewater treatment works. By tackling groundwater infiltration, relining over 650 meters of sewer, and implementing other key improvements, we’re taking another important step toward protecting our environment and reducing stormwater impacts. This is just one example of how we’re turning the tide on wastewater management. 🌊 Find out more about this project and our commitment to delivering positive environmental change here: https://lnkd.in/eUKPMh79

After eight weeks of hard work in some very challenging weather conditions, our teams have completed work early to replace a 300-metre section of sewer in Exmouth. The work forms part of a wider £38m investment to improve local services and follows £20m that has already been invested in the area over the last 5 years. Our work to tackle the use of storm overflows extends right across the region and we've already made improvements to two-thirds of our highest spilling storm overflows from 2023, preventing around 12,500 spills to the environment so far.
