𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗷𝗼𝗯𝘀 Around 300 former steelworkers will be retrained, and more than 50 new jobs will be created, thanks to a six-figure loan from Tata Steel subsidiary, UKSE. Key contractor of Tata Steel, JES, will lead the project and increase the capacity of their Port Talbot-based welding skills academy significantly thanks to this collaboration, which will also strengthen our 40 year-long relationship with the local firm. 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝘃𝘆 𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗯𝗼𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗹𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗯𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀 Today was an emotional day for many as we ceased operations at Blast Furnace 4 along with other associated iron and steelmaking assets at Port Talbot - the UK’s largest steel plant - bringing an end to ironmaking at the site. Steelmaking at Port Talbot will resume in 2027/2028 through the investment of £1.25 billion in Electric Arc Furnace based steelmaking, using UK-sourced scrap steel. Our planned £750 million investment in low-CO2 green steelmaking will be supported by an additional £500 million Grant Funding Agreement signed recently with the UK Government. As part of Catnic's Sustainability Commitment, we have pledged to protect and expand the biodiversity that co-exists on our sites and local communities. 💪 With that in mind, we committed to volunteering with the Countryside department of Caerphilly County Council, with our first voluntary day being last Wednesday, 18th September. The team supported Bargoed Woodland Park to clear an overgrown area, which will not only benefit users of the park but also the local school children for their upcoming woodland days! Councillor Carol Andrews said “This collaboration between Catnic and Caerphilly Cares is a wonderful example of how local businesses can contribute to environmental sustainability and community education. The work done here will have a lasting impact, allowing our young people to engage with nature safely while learning valuable skills.” Da iawn team! 🌳🍃

We have power! The Combination mill is coming to life. The discharge end of the mill has been surrounded with Herras fence to stop unauthorised entry into the commissioning area, while the Mair technicians are testing the various component within the line. We welcomed our civil engineers MPB back to site to complete their groundworks by setting the machinery feet within a concrete base, now it's all accurately positioned and settled. You can see from the attached images, the accumulator and flying shear are secured to the ground. 👷👷🦺 MAIR RESEARCH S.P.A. | MPB STRUCTURES | RRS Group
