🗞️ We've been catching up on the news that Ocado Retail have seen a major increase in sales of no and low alcohol products over the past 12 months - and that sales are consistent throughout the year. 💙The research was conducted by Savanta alongside Ocado – and we are pretty excited to see Thatchers Zero top the chart as their fastest growing low and no drink, up a whopping 90% on last year! 0️⃣ Ocado say their extensive range of low and no products has played a part in this increase, demonstrating what can be achieved when this category is given serious consideration. 🍻They also say people are clearly looking for a low/no version of their favourite drink. With apple cider making up 60-70% of all cider sales, it’s no surprise that a quality, trusted apple cider has topped the low/no charts. Want to find out more? Link in comments.

Family Cider Makers Since 1904
About us
The Thatcher family has been making cider since 1904 and each generation has passed down valuable secrets of cider making, creating ciders that are smooth, fresh and full of flavour. We believe our cider makers are the best in the business, and our passion for quality has led to an unrivalled range of premium ciders. We have built a team of highly experienced and motivated people. Times have changed since William Thatcher paid his staff wages in cider. What hasn’t changed is that each member of staff in our extended family is highly valued and encouraged to grow with the company.

🍎 It’s your last chance to apply to the Thatchers Community Orchard Project 2025! We’re giving away 500 apple trees to 50 local communities, allowing them to experience the joy of looking after and growing apples in their own orchard. ❣️We believe orchards are special places that have the power to give communities a place to come together, to learn, to share, to connect with nature and reflect on the world around them, all while contributing to biodiversity and creating new habitats for nature. If you’re a charity, group or organisation doing great things for your local community and would benefit from planting, tending to and nurturing 10 delicious apple trees, then we would love to hear from you. 🌳Applications close on 31 Jan 2025, so there is still time! To find out more, see the link in the comments.

Wow – what a week! Our feet have finally touched the ground after all the celebrations. On Friday night we wassailed the Thatchers orchards, continuing a centuries old tradition that ensures a bountiful harvest for the year ahead. There was revelry and merriment as the Mendip Morris and Green Man joined Thatchers friends and family in singing, dancing, banging sticks, hanging toast and most importantly, pouring cider, all in the name of scaring away the bad spirits and welcoming the good ones for a prosperous year ahead. Wassail (waes hail) translates into modern English as ‘good health’ and was often followed by a call of ‘drinc hail’ meaning ‘drink well’. So, we wish all our followers ‘waes hail’ and invite you to join us in a cider toast 🍎🍻.

Thatchers Zero is about to make its TV debut, making it the first low/no cider to have its own national TV campaign! And rightly so. This shining star has had a record year, more than doubling sales in 2024, and looking set to have a record January too. It has extended its top spot as the nation’s bestselling low/no apple cider in the on and off trade too. With around 70% of cider sales being apple cider, and around 70% of the population looking to moderate, Thatchers Zero is the perfect choice for cider lovers this January. The ads will launch this Friday (Jan 10th) on TNT Sports alongside the 2025 Rugby Season, including Men’s Gallagher Premiership Rugby, Women’s Premier 15’s, Men’s Premiership Rugby Cup & HSBC Sevens Series.

We’re incredibly proud to be finalists in TWO categories at the Somerset Business Awards, with Lily Wright shortlisted for Apprentice of the Year and the whole company in the running for the Sustainable Business Award. It is a great reflection of Somerset, and good news for future talent and the environment, that the finalists in these categories are so strong. We're up against some stiff competition! Good luck to all the other finalists. #SBA2025

We’ve been selected by The Grocer as the cider campaign of the year - for the second year in a row! This year saw us back in the studio with the multi–Academy Award® winning Aardman for the next chapter of our pint-sized perfection campaign. The ads use stop-motion animation to celebrate the skill and craft of the nation’s sporting heroes - and our expert cider makers. They show the animated Thatcher family adapting their cider making skills to try their hands at football, cricket and rugby. And like a refreshing smooth glass of Thatchers Gold, they’ve have made a huge impact! Not only cementing Thatchers as a match day favourite, but being rated as ‘exceptional’ by audiences and delivering the highest awareness of any cider brand (source: System1). The Grocer editorial team are witness to every campaign launched, so to be selected as the best for a second year in a row is a real honour. Thanks!
