Our volunteer team had a lovely afternoon at the Time2Volunteer awards today. We had 4 volunteers/volunteer teams shortlisted for an award which was a fantastic achievement and out of these, our befriender Donna won the Inclusive Award! We are so proud of all of our volunteers. Not just those shortlisted today, but all those who support our charity and older people in our community. We are so grateful for your time and support ❤️

Today is the start of #VolunteersWeek, our favourite time of the year. This week is dedicated for non-profit organisations, such as Hull CVS, to not only give thanks but also showcase what local volunteers do and the difference they make to our communities. At Hull CVS, we are privileged to be able to share the wonderful differences our volunteers make and those in the wider sector through Time2Volunteer, the dedicated volunteering platform which we deliver in partnership with The HEY Smile Foundation. Through this platform in 2023 / 24, we saw an incredible 1160 volunteers provide a total of 4439 hours to making a difference with local organisations, in areas such as Horticulture, Older People and Health. So whether you've helped by: creating a luscious sustainable environment by planting trees with PATT Foundation supporting people to be less isolated, more connected and have a more fulfilling life with Age UK Hull & East Yorkshire improving people's experiences when using local health and social care services with Healthwatch Kingston upon Hull volunteering with the many wonderful organisations which are working hard to make Hull an even better place. Thank you. To celebrate Volunteers Week, Hull CVS is inviting you to join us and other local organisations for our Volunteer Recognition Week Event at Trinity Market on Friday 7th June from 10am to 2pm, where you can speak to various organisations about volunteering opportunities and the difference you can make in your local area. We still have spaces available for any organisation interested in joining us at this event, please contact enquiries@hull-cvs.co.uk or drop us a DM to find out more. Throughout this week, we will be sharing stories from ourselves and our partners across Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire, with the tag: #VolunteersWeekHEY2024. Sophie, our Commuity Development Manager is also chairing the East Riding VCSE Network today, a big thank you to SHORES for hosting us, providing office space.

We think Hull & East Yorkshire has some amazing community groups, run by local volunteers who want to make a difference in our region! We went along to chat with volunteers at New Pasture Lane Community Centre, a community centre in Bridlington that was opened and run entirely by volunteers! Kate and Abby were the first two, and partnered up to open the centre just over a year ago. The centre hosts activities and events for the local community constantly, including regular events like Fitness & Fun and a crafts session too! We chatted to a few of the group's regulars while we were there, and it was great to hear how much they loved the community centre and how much it benefited them. It's not just great for the regulars either; all the volunteers we chatted to were eager to share how much they get out of giving their time, and how much it's helped their mental and physical health. New Pasture Lane Community Centre is just one of the amazing community projects in Hull & East Yorkshire.
