When initially appraising a site for housing or strategic land, some heritage constraints can easily be overlooked – but identifying them early reduces risk and strengthens the planning case. Kerrie Melrose shares her top considerations and how to navigate them. More: https://lnkd.in/eVSNFeC2 With recent changes to the NPPF, many of our clients are revisiting sites or seeking new ones to help deliver the Government’s pledged 1.5 million homes. Many sites have heritage considerations that may not yet be identified or were considered years ago. In the intervening time, changes in policy, case law and guidance have evolved the way in which heritage assets are addressed. Setting considerations, non-designated heritage assets and spot-listing can create unexpected hurdles for new housing and site allocation. Read the full article to learn more about how these challenges can be managed early and effectively. For further advice, or to continue the conversation, please contact Kerrie Melrose or a member of the wider team, visit: https://lnkd.in/eFtjQS5H for more details on our heritage, landscape and townscape expertise. Kerrie Melrose and Joanna Ede will also be attending the Land, Planning and Development Federation (LPDF) annual lunch on Thursday 27 March in London. Contact Kerrie and Joanna directly to arrange to meet up. #Housing #StrategicLand #Heritage

The Turley Charitable Trust is proud to announce funding to two new charities in 2025 as part of our ongoing bid programme. Our bid programme invites co-owners to nominate charities they wish to support where our donation can make a real difference to a specific project. This year we will be supporting investment projects by Simon Community in Northern Ireland and Disability Challengers in Reading. Nominated by co-owners in our Belfast office, the funding for Simon Community Northern Ireland will help provide an ‘Everyday Essentials Bundle’ for tenants moving into new homes after experiencing homelessness or living in temporary accommodation. The bundles will also be available to those who are at risk of homelessness or who are transitioning to permanent housing. Find out more about Simon Community Northern Ireland here: https://lnkd.in/ewqu_yA2 Our Reading office nominated Challengers who provide disabled children and young people with a fun, safe and supportive environment to play and make friends. The funding will provide a new swing set at their accessible youth centre in Farnham, encouraging young people to spend time outdoors at the centre. To find out more about Challengers please follow the link: https://lnkd.in/eCCH8-xw To find out more about the Turley Charitable Trust, please get in touch with Alison Browne.
