Proud to see our colleagues Jonathan Falkingham MBE and Mark Latham contributing to the Design Council Homes Taskforce, helping the government in its quest to deliver 1.5 million homes within the 1.5-degree climate threshold. The pair collaborated with industry leaders like George Clarke, Annalie Riches, and PPRIBA Sunand Prasad on the paper, which makes recommendations including a ‘whole stock’ housing strategy focused on reuse and retrofit. It’s an approach long championed by Urban Splash and applied across our portfolio – including at Park Hill in #Sheffield. Pictures of the Grade II Listed building are displayed throughout the research paper, with Park Hill also playing host to one of the Design Council’s recent roundtables. Mark and Jonathan’s contributions continue Urban Splash’s legacy of helping shape government policy – from supporting Lord Rogers’ Urban Task Force Report in 1999 to delivering one of New Labour’s Millennium Communities at New Islington. Yesterday, we welcomed the Regeneration Brainery Brainees inside Cole Brothers in #Sheffield. The day began with a session on public consultations with Andrew Johnston from Made it Together before we took the students on a tour of the building, including taking a look at the loading bay area, the car park and the roof. Peter & Paul then led the afternoon session on branding and we heard some creative window design suggestions from the students. Thank you to all students who came along, we hope the day was inspiring and provided useful insight into public consultations and the design process - we’ve certainly come away with lots of ideas on how to engage young people in our future consultations! Day 2 in Sheffield was all about big ideas and bold visions! 💡 At the Cole Brothers site, students stepped into the shoes of city planners in an exclusive behind-the-scenes session with Urban Splash, exploring their exciting redevelopment plans for this iconic building. 🏢 Discussions were buzzing with fresh ideas on what the space could become and how developers can better connect with young people in shaping the future of their city. Made it Together were all ears, taking notes on how to make consultation more inclusive! Peter & Paul got the creative sparks flying! 🎨✨ Students dived into the art of branding, using the building’s rich history and real-life stories from those who’ve walked its halls to craft unique identities for the space. The result? Some truly original concepts that gave a fresh perspective on urban storytelling! We rounded off the day with Lloyds Living, who shared an inside look at running a thriving residential community. Their inspiring career journeys proved that there’s no single route into the industry – passion and creativity open endless doors. 🚀 Day 3, we swap blueprints for boots … safety gear at the ready! 🚧👷♂️ #SheffieldBootcamp #UrbanDesign #FutureBuiltSheffield
