What do occupiers want from their workspace? And how does this work alongside carbon goals? Kicking off the London Property Alliance (CPA & WPA) panel discussion at Edenica, 100 Fetter Lane — our newly completed workspace in the City of London — an interactive poll involved an audience of 120 professionals on this very question. Responses revealed that #naturallight topped the list of design priorities, while good #transport links ranked highest among desired #amenities. These insights reflect the evolving expectations of workplaces that prioritise #wellbeing, #flexibility and connectivity while aiming for net-zero commitments. Mark Sutton, Senior Associate at Fletcher Priest Architects, expanded on the evolving demand for amenity in workplaces by sharing, “In terms of amenity, each design is unique, it is important to understand and analyse the local context of the location of a particular project. There is also an emerging need to allow for flexibility for different types of amenities at the early design stages, maximising leasing opportunities to allow adaptability to respond to changes in leasing strategies and evolving tenant requirements." Thanks Nikki Dibley for an excellent job in chairing our panel yesterday. Was great to discuss the changing landscape of occupiers needs, particularly in context of the new UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard and how this is driving office design. The event was made particularly special as it was held at the recently completed Edenica office development (100 Fetter Lane) and hosted by the developer Maxwell Shand from YardNine. Waterman Group were lucky enough to have been part of the fantastic team on this low embodied carbon, Fletcher Priest Architects designed scheme.
