Our property services experts support social housing providers with planned, reactive and energy-efficiency services, as well as heating and compliance for thriving homes. At the heart of what they do is looking after people, so they don’t just maintain and improve homes, but find ways to support the communities they work in. They did this at the end of last year with a £1,000 donation to Stonewater Housing Association to help families in need. Working in partnership with Evouchers, they helped 34 households by providing vouchers for utility suppliers and supermarkets, and the funding has also been used to support families in refuge, and those in supported and retirement living schemes. This meant the world to Mrs S and her family, who received an instant food voucher and a bed base for her son who was sleeping on the floor at the time. Exciting progress is underway at HMP Highpoint, as we recently celebrated the groundbreaking of a transformative expansion project with the Ministry of Justice (MoJ). This landmark initiative is reimagining prison infrastructure, increasing capacity at the rural Suffolk site by more than 50% and making it the UK's largest correctional facility in terms of prisoner population. We were also delighted to have our Chairman, Tim Wates, join us for this special occasion. Tim kindly spoke at the event and took part in the ceremony, reaffirming our commitment to delivering high-quality, sustainable prison infrastructure that supports rehabilitation and community impact. Today, I want us to consider ‘marginal gains’. We are currently working on an exceptional project with CBRE being delivered by Wates Group on the junction of Oxford Street and Wells Street in London. It is ‘The Ribbon’. Buildings take time, sometimes a lot of time to gestate, to evolve, to navigate and there in lies the issue, in this #acceleratedage there is an inherent conflict in designing responsibly for the future #goodancestors and the new knowledge we all are aggregating and coalescing around - all the time!.. as we strive to understand our combined responsibility to live within our means. This project was designed in 2017, when general knowledge on reuse was less mature, and we have fortunately had the opportunity to apply new learnings where we can. How? Today the reused raised access floors were loaded out on site, ready for install. Not in the original brief, but donated through our clients wider project supply chain / awareness of other projects to realise real embodied carbon reductions via collaboration with the industry and updated specifications - take each win, celebrate the marginal gains, multiply them up and we can create a meaningful shift in our approach to #reuse #regenerativedesign #goodancestors Keep advocating, keep pushing, we are privileged to do this #together

I had a enjoyable morning with Lucinda Nicholson and Jamie Finn at Queen Eleanor’s C of E Junior School in Guildford, where we supported their STEM Inspiration Day. We spent time engaging with each year group, discussing the importance of STEM subjects and the exciting ways they are applied in various careers. One of the highlights was our interactive brick challenge, which the students absolutely loved! The primary goal of the day was to help the students understand how STEM subjects can open doors to a wide range of career opportunities. It was an inspiring and rewarding experience for all involved! Wates Group #WatesConstructionSouth #watessocialvalue #education #STEM

We are proud to announce an outstanding achievement for our team at Gartree 2 (the new prison under construction in Leicestershire), where we secured an incredible 44/45 score on our first visit for the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS). This accomplishment highlights the exceptional dedication, commitment, and professionalism demonstrated by everyone involved in this ambitious project. Gartree 2 represents more than just construction — when the prison opens it will provide around 1,700 much-needed safe, secure and decent prison places.
