We are delighted to become patrons of the Multicultural Apprenticeship & Skills Alliance. As the What Works Centre for youth employment, we know apprenticeships have a positive impact on youth employment outcomes, and they present a welcome opportunity for young people from minortised ethnic backgrounds to progress into good work. Together, we will empower employers to broaden access to high-quality vocational pathways, equipping young people to thrive. “Our shared vision for a more equitable future is what makes this partnership so significant.” - Safaraz Ali, Founder of the Multicultural Apprenticeship & Skills Alliance. Our Principal Economist, Dr Andrea Barry responds to the latest Labout Market stats from Office for National Statistics. “The ONS Labour Market statistics indicate an increase in unemployment for young people aged 16-24. More than 12% of UK youth out of full-time education are unemployed, whilst 20.2% of young people not in full-time education are economically inactive. “The youth unemployment challenge remains persistent and without long-term solutions, young people across the country could face being pushed further from the labour market. “We welcome the Government’s announcement of a new advisory board that will help to tackle the long-standing issues in the country's labour market. The prize is clear, if we were to match the employment, education and training rates of the Netherlands, we could contribute £69bn to the UK economy over the long term.” Find all of the latest youth employment data on our Data Dashboard, here: https://lnkd.in/eYdXxzJ2

The work that Youth Futures Foundation continues to do as a result of collaborative work, including Dormant Assets funding, is vital in providing effective action to youth unemployment across the UK.
Our CEO, Barry Fletcher, and Paul O'Neill, Deputy CEO at Right To Succeed, have been on BBC Breakfast this morning, discussing the ongoing rise of young people not earning or learning, and our report that launched today.
